Realizing the meaning and importance of the movement "Farmers compete in good production and business, unite to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty", Farmers' Associations at all levels in the province closely follow the direction and orientation of the Central Association, the leadership of the Provincial Party Committee; the development goals and tasks of the province; annually, build plans to deploy the movement and focus on leading and directing serious and synchronous implementation, with many suitable and practical solutions. Since then, many dynamic individuals have appeared, producing and doing business with high efficiency. These typical examples have created a strong spread in supporting, helping, and inspiring many families with the will to rise up to escape poverty sustainably and get rich.
The movement of farmers competing in production and good business in Lai Chau attracted a large number of members and farmers to participate.
We visited the family of Mr. Vang Van Pin in Coc Pa village (Tan Phong ward) - one of the leading households in economic development in the village, building a prosperous life from scratch. After starting a family, he and his wife were given separate living space by their parents, with no capital or valuable assets. Besides a few acres of rice fields, he also worked for hire during the off-season to earn extra income, however, life did not improve much. With a hard-working, dynamic, daring to think and act, in 2013, Mr. Pin borrowed more than 30 million VND from the Tam Duong Social Policy Bank Transaction Office to find a job. From the loan and 50 million VND that the family saved, they were invested in economic development. Taking short-term to support long-term, his family is currently raising more than 80 purebred sugarcane chickens and fish on an area of 5,000m2. In order to reduce the cost of animal feed, he brewed wine to increase his income, and used the wine as fish feed. During the process of raising animals, his family actively learned from the experience of effective economic development models and applied them in practice. With the comprehensive economic model, his family earned an average profit of more than 200 million VND per year, and his family life was quite prosperous. Mr. Pin shared: Thanks to the propaganda and mobilization of the ward Farmers' Association officials, I changed my way of thinking and working, thereby improving the quality of my family's life.
The family of Mr. Sung A Pao, in Lung Thang village (Doan Ket ward) is also one of the typical examples in economic development. Taking us to visit the buffalo barn, Mr. Pao shared with us that, after learning about the reality, he saw that the demand for commercial livestock in the market was large. Initially, he bought buffaloes to raise, fatten and reproduce in the form of semi-grazing, but due to lack of experience, he suffered economic losses. In 2023, he received support of more than 60 million VND from Resolution No. 07/2021/NQ-HDND dated March 22, 2021 of the Provincial People's Council stipulating policies on the development of concentrated commodity agriculture in the period 2021 - 2025, his family had more capital to build solid barns and expand the scale of commodity farming.
Mr. Pao confided: "Learning from my previous failed livestock investment, I researched and learned more about breeding techniques, care, and disease prevention for livestock from households in the commune and village, on social networks, books, and newspapers. Along with that, I planted more than 5,000 square meters of elephant grass and stored straw to ensure food sources, especially in winter."
Following the farming process, the livestock herd has grown well. Currently, his family has 20 buffaloes, with an average annual increase of about 10 calves. In addition, his family also cultivates more than 1 hectare of rice; after the winter-spring rice crop, his family intensively cultivates corn for livestock; in addition, his family currently has more than 2 hectares of Kim Tuyen tea, while maintaining the traditional wine-making profession. With the comprehensive economic model, each year Mr. Pao's family earns more than 300 million VND in profit.

In order to have more good farmers in production and business, the Association at all levels has always actively implemented activities to support members. Comrade Pham Ngoc Dang - Vice Chairman of the Lai Chau Provincial Farmers' Association said: In recent years, the Provincial Farmers' Association has made efforts to propagate and replicate models and typical examples in the movement "Farmers compete in production and good business, unite to help each other get rich and reduce poverty sustainably" through mobilization, capital support, technical advice and replication of effective models. Specifically, the Association at all levels has promoted propaganda; organized preliminary and final summaries and commended outstanding collectives and individuals to create motivation. Propaganda work has been widely deployed through branch activities, clubs, farmer groups and through the mass media, helping farmer members raise awareness, encourage emulation movements in labor production, change the structure of crops and livestock, and promote local advantages.
Over the years, the Association at all levels has organized 7,388 propaganda sessions with 381,140 participants; compiled and published 7,343 copies of "Lai Chau Farmers' Information" for the Association's bases and branches. At the same time, coordinated with businesses to guide farmers in accessing science and technology, applying mechanization to production; implemented activities to introduce, promote and consume agricultural products, guided members to participate in the One Commune One Product Program; participated in displaying OCOP products, potential products of Lai Chau farmers at events inside and outside the province.
In parallel, the Association at all levels has organized many delegations to visit and survey effective production and business models; agricultural models, OCOP product processing applying science - technology, digital transformation, collective economy in and outside the province, helping members access and replicate in many localities.
Every year, Lai Chau province has thousands of farming households achieving the title of good farming and business households at all levels.
In order for the movement to go into depth and promote practical effectiveness, farmers' associations at all levels pay attention to supporting farmer members to borrow capital to invest in production development; advise Party committees and authorities at the same level to establish the Farmers' Support Fund (FSF)... Up to now, the total outstanding debt of the Social Policy Bank entrusted through the FSF organization has reached 1 billion 150 million VND with 14,938 households borrowing capital, through 398 savings and loan groups; the outstanding debt of the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development entrusted through the FSF organization is 215,754 million VND with 122 loan groups and 1,736 households borrowing; the outstanding debt of the FSF fund has reached over 57 billion VND with more than 1,000 households borrowing through 257 projects.
Vocational training support for farmers is also of great interest. Associations at all levels regularly coordinate to organize technical training support, implement models, promote products... for members and farmers such as: training in techniques for caring for clean tea for export; practical techniques for composting from livestock waste and agricultural by-products; skills in planning production, business and marketing for farmers... Through vocational training and technical training, farmers have learned to arrange appropriate seedling structures, know how to apply science and technology to production, know how to intensify cultivation, increase land use coefficient, improve crop and livestock productivity, and organize production and business effectively.
Every year, the Association at all levels organizes a preliminary and final review, commends and rewards promptly; many typical examples are introduced and honored, creating a strong influence. In the period of 2023 - 2025, the Provincial Farmers' Association was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Provincial People's Committee for outstanding achievements in the emulation movement; 57 collectives and 95 individuals were awarded, of which 2 individuals were awarded the Third Class Labor Medal by the President, 1 individual was awarded a Certificate of Merit by the Prime Minister, 2 individuals were awarded the title of Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer, 1 individual was honored as a Farmer's Scientist.
Keeping in mind Uncle Ho's teaching "Emulation is patriotism, patriotism requires emulation", in the coming time, Farmers' Associations at all levels in the province will continue to widely and effectively implement the Movement "Farmers compete in production, good business, unite to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty". From there, it will create a spreading force, a vibrant competitive atmosphere, arouse patriotism, national pride, create momentum and strength for farmers to enthusiastically participate in production and labor, contributing to accelerating the process of economic restructuring towards industrialization and modernization of agriculture, rural areas and farmers.
