On August 10, Mr. Vu Van Dien, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Power Supply and Development chaired a meeting to listen to and give opinions on the progress of implementing power development projects in the area.

The assessment report at the meeting said that in the first 7 months of 2024, the electricity output of thermal power plants in the province is estimated at 22.5 billion kWh, of which the electricity consumption is estimated at 3.9 billion kWh, an increase of 11.4% over the same period. Although the demand for electricity has increased, since the beginning of the year, the electricity supply in the whole province has still met the demand of people and businesses, making an important contribution to the economic growth target of the province.
To achieve that result, in addition to the objective reason of heavy rain, hydroelectric plants in the Northern region all mobilized maximum capacity, with the drastic direction of the province, along with the efforts of sectors and localities, it helped ensure sufficient electricity supply for daily life and production.
The focus is on removing difficulties and obstacles in the production activities of Thermal Power Plants; ensuring maximum coal supply for Thermal Power Plants; conducting load adjustment drills and mobilizing backup generators; raising awareness and responsibility of people, businesses, agencies and units in using electricity economically. In particular, timely investment and upgrading of electricity infrastructure has been made to meet the needs of expansion and productivity increase at factories and enterprises in Industrial Parks and Economic Zones in the area.
At the meeting, leaders of relevant departments, branches, localities and units also reported to clarify the progress and problems arising in the implementation of 220kV and 110kV power projects in the province.

Concluding the meeting, Mr. Vu Van Dien, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Electricity Supply and Development, acknowledged the efforts of sectors and localities in implementing solutions to ensure electricity supply in the area from the beginning of 2024 to present, contributing to improving the quality of people's lives and serving the socio-economic development goals in the area.
Regarding the tasks in the coming time, Mr. Vu Van Dien, Standing Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Industry and Trade, Quang Ninh Electricity Company and other sectors and localities to continue to promote propaganda, raise awareness and responsibility of people and businesses in using electricity economically. Investors of 220kV and 110kV power projects increase human resources and construction equipment, ensuring the completion of projects according to the set plan. Localities actively and proactively coordinate with investors and contractors, promptly remove difficulties and problems arising, especially in site clearance.
