- At this time, relevant units have been quickly focusing on synchronously implementing solutions to overcome difficulties and speed up the progress of the project to overcome erosion on the Bac Khe riverbank (old Trang Dinh district).

Every year, during the rainy season, many places in That Khe and Trang Dinh communes (old Trang Dinh district) often fall into a state of flooding, especially the areas along the two banks of Bac Khe river in the two communes mentioned above. Riverbank erosion occurs frequently during the rainy season when there is a strong flow, thereby posing a danger to people's houses, administrative offices, schools, medical stations and agricultural production areas.
Mr. Be Van Canh, Party Cell Secretary, Head of Village 1, That Khe Commune, said: In the village, there are a number of households living along the banks of the Bac Khe River. Every rainy and stormy season, people are constantly afraid of flooding and landslides, causing great economic losses to people living and producing along the river. Not only that, every time the floodwaters recede, garbage accumulates along the banks, causing environmental pollution in the surrounding area.
Along with village 1, many households in other villages in the two communes of That Khe and Trang Dinh are also very worried about the erosion of the Bac Khe riverbank. Faced with this reality, relevant authorities and sectors have reviewed and assessed the current situation, and then started implementing the Bac Khe riverbank embankment project to overcome the erosion of the Bac Khe riverbank. The project is implemented in the two communes of That Khe and Trang Dinh, with a construction scale of embankments on both sides of the river with a total length of over 6.6 km (of which the left bank embankment is nearly 3.1 km long, the right bank embankment is over 3.5 km long). The total investment of the project is 139 billion VND. The construction time starts from November 2025.
To implement the project, relevant levels and sectors have proactively started to deploy specific work contents. Accordingly, the People's Committees of That Khe and Trang Dinh communes have coordinated with relevant agencies to focus on propaganda and mobilization in site clearance work. Up to now, That Khe commune has propagated and mobilized 123/123 households to hand over the site with an area of 17,000 m2; Trang Dinh commune has mobilized 148/149 households to hand over the site with an area of 22,779.3 m2.
Along with site clearance work, to ensure the progress of the project, the investor (Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board) has urged the contractor to urgently carry out geological survey work, urgently prepare conditions for construction implementation, level the construction access road, casting yard... Up to now, the construction unit has cleared 3,500/6,600 m of the site; poured concrete for foundations and embankment foot walls for 615/6,600 m; cast 14,000 precast concrete panels... The project disbursement progress has reached about 28% of the capital plan.
Despite achieving initial results, in reality, the project implementation progress still faces some difficulties related to some contents of site clearance work; insufficient land resources for filling, incomplete temporary road system serving construction; no suitable dumping site...
To remove difficulties and speed up the project implementation progress, the People's Committees of That Khe and Trang Dinh communes continue to coordinate with relevant agencies in removing obstacles related to site clearance (urgently establish and approve specific land prices for the project implementation area and proactively review and report to the Provincial People's Committee for opinions on other support for the land plots currently being cultivated by households, which on the cadastral map are shown as riverbank land).
Along with focusing on removing obstacles in the site, the investor continues to direct the implementation of construction work to ensure progress and quality. Mr. Vi Minh Khoi, project manager (Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board) said: During the time of implementing procedures to remove difficulties in the source of land for the project, the investor coordinates with relevant units to review and determine the volume of land on site of the project to utilize as materials for embankment, serving the construction. Along with that, the investor continues to urge the contractor to fully concentrate human resources, machinery, equipment; urgently organize the construction of items within the scope of the handed over site, to ensure completion according to plan.
Along with the close attention and direction of the investor, the construction contractor also quickly started to implement specific solutions. Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cong, Deputy Director of Song Quang Rural Development and Construction Investment Joint Stock Company, Luong Van Tri Ward, Lang Son Province, said: To speed up the progress of the project and take advantage of favorable weather, in the coming time, the company and contractors will continue to add human resources and machinery to organize the items at the same time. Specifically, the contractors (on both the left and right banks of the project) will deploy more than 10 construction sites, each site with 15 - 20 people, mobilizing maximum equipment, machinery, excavators, and all kinds of cars to meet the progress and quality of the project.
Although there are still certain difficulties and problems, with the initial results achieved and the solutions being implemented, we believe that in the coming time, the implementation of the Bac Khe Riverbank Erosion Repair Project will achieve positive results, completing the plan and objectives set out. Thereby contributing to overcoming the situation of riverbank erosion, stabilizing the flow, protecting residents, land and essential infrastructure in the area.
