Project "Supporting women to start businesses" in Tien Giang: Unleashing potential, promoting innovation and creativity

To achieve that goal, the Standing Committee of the Women's Union of Tien Giang province has directed and implemented a project focusing on activities to support women in innovation, entrepreneurship, and business start-up to arouse the spirit of entrepreneurship, creativity, promote women's strengths and talents, and create the best opportunities for women to develop their internal strength, create jobs, and develop the economy .

UNLEASHING STARTUP POTENTIAL

To stimulate the potential of women to start a business, the Provincial Women's Union has strengthened propaganda activities so that members can understand the contents and objectives of Project 939; advised the Provincial People's Committee to approve the plan; at the same time, directed the Women's Union at all levels to have activities to support women to start a business. Through propaganda, training and communication activities on mass media, it has contributed to raising awareness of cadres, members and women about starting a business.

Every year, the Provincial Women's Union successfully organizes "Women's Entrepreneurship Day" with specific and practical topics.

Therefore, the start-up movement is increasingly going into depth and has a strong influence on women, especially disadvantaged, single and disabled women. From there, it contributes to creating jobs for women, helping women participate in economic development and escape poverty sustainably, helping to eliminate gender barriers, bringing great opportunities for women, especially women in rural areas to have conditions to start a business.

One of the outstanding activities in the implementation of Project 939 is that every year the Provincial Women's Union successfully organizes the "Women's Entrepreneurship Day" with specific and practical topics.

The Women's Union at all levels organized 345 Women's Startup Days in localities to share the promotion of information application in startup activities of the base to bring products to e-commerce platforms such as: Shoppee, Lazada and Tiktok shop; organize meetings with successful startup members, visit successful startup models in and outside the province; rural markets, display and introduce cooperative products, cooperative groups, OCOP products, organize 245 "0 VND" booths with 24,650 gifts, with a total amount of 4.93 billion VND. Provide capital support for 322 women who want to start a business, with a total amount of over 2.8 billion VND.

Some outstanding results after 7 years of implementing Project 939

- 90% of specialized Union officials at all levels participating in the implementation of Plan Project 939 have raised awareness and methods to support women in starting a business and developing a business, completing 95.43% (1,317/1,380) compared to the approved target of Plan Project 939.

- 70% of HVPNs were propagandized and raised awareness about jobs and startups, completing 89% of the plan's target.

- Supported 732 women to start businesses and start businesses, reaching a rate of 366% (target 200%)

- Coordinate, support and mobilize the establishment of 15 cooperatives managed by PN.

Coordinated with the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union to organize "Training on knowledge and skills to start a business for women's models of developing the home economy" for 200 members, women (HVPN) and organized 5 training courses with the theme "Vietnamese women confidently do business" for 200 women who mainly do small businesses at home.

The Women's Union at all levels organized 56 training courses on improving knowledge and supporting start-ups for 1,685 female workers; coordinated with functional sectors to open 324 vocational training courses for 9,735 female workers in need; organized 1,409 training courses on science and technology transfer in cultivation and animal husbandry, with 28,542 women participating, who applied them in practice to produce and raise animals more effectively, limiting the use of fertilizers and pesticides in cultivation to reduce costs and bring high efficiency.

At the same time, the Women's Union at all levels has also strengthened connections with the Bank for Social Policies and the Women's Economic Development Support Fund of Tien Giang Province, providing loans to 2,039 female entrepreneurs who want to start a business with an amount of over VND 29,233 billion and guiding female entrepreneurs in developing business ideas. In addition to the contributions and efforts of the Women's Union, the Provincial Women's Entrepreneurs Club has also actively supported job creation and supported poor women in starting a business; as of December 2024, 732 newly established female enterprises were supported.

Through that, it arouses the spirit of entrepreneurship, business start-up, creativity of women, connects women-owned businesses, authors with feasible startup ideas and projects with departments, branches, sectors, units, and sponsors so that all parties have more information, search, access, and support resources for women to start businesses.

REALIZING STARTUP IDEAS

Together with women to realize their startup ideas, the Women's Union at all levels in the province over the years has always accompanied, supported and encouraged women of all backgrounds, ages and professions, especially women in difficult circumstances and women with disabilities to rise up and confidently participate in the startup movement, enrich their families, their homeland and country, create jobs for local workers, contribute to promoting gender equality and enhancing the role and position of women in society.

Regularly introduce, display and promote PN's startup products.

Specifically, the Association at all levels has coordinated with relevant sectors to connect resources to support the realization of creative and innovative ideas of women, focusing on supporting women with ideas, those in need of starting a business, cooperatives/cooperatives, and newly established enterprises owned by women.

Organized 6 Women's Startup Competitions, with 1,167 startup ideas registered for the provincial competition; of which, 71 startup ideas/projects were selected for provincial awards, 52 projects participated in the Central competition. As a result, 14 projects passed the preliminary round (9 projects entered the regional final round and 1 project won the Aspiration award in the national final round).

In addition, support activities such as trade promotion aim to introduce business types and services of association groups, cooperative groups, and cooperatives to the market, contributing to solving output and building brands for agricultural products and goods of Tien Giang province.

The Provincial Women's Union has created conditions for 3 cooperatives managed by PN to participate in the activities of "Job Fair, connecting businesses, introducing Vietnamese products" in Ho Chi Minh City and Can Tho City with key products started by PN.

Regarding the effectiveness of the project, Chairwoman of the Provincial Women's Union Nguyen Thi Kim Phuong affirmed: The activities to support women in starting a business have received positive responses from officials and VWUs at all levels, basically achieving and exceeding the planned targets. The project has created a breakthrough in thinking and methods of implementing activities to support women in starting a business and developing a business in the new period.

Through propaganda activities, supporting women to start businesses, start businesses, high-income economic development models, the "Women's Startup Ideas" Contest, trade promotion exchange programs... have created widespread emulation movements among cadres and members, helping women to be more confident in starting businesses, starting businesses, developing the economy, rising up strongly, and taking control of their lives.

After the competitions, many ideas have been realized, becoming effective economic development models, replicated locally. This is the clearest evidence of PN's talent, intelligence and capacity in the new era.

Each person has a different idea, a different way of starting a business, but in general, the PN sisters all aim to enrich themselves, contribute to building the local socio-economy and affirm their position in society. PN's contributions through start-up activities also actively solve social problems, improve the material and spiritual life of the people.
