The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has just sent an official dispatch to the People's Committees of coastal provinces and cities (Hung Yen, Ninh Binh, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri, Da Nang, Quang Ngai) urgently calling on ships operating in the Gulf of Tonkin to seek safe shelter.
Citing a report from the Border Guard's Civil Defense, Disaster Prevention and Search and Rescue Command, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment's dispatch emphasized that as of 6:30 a.m. on July 21, there were still 425 ships/1,560 people operating in the Gulf of Tonkin (including the Hoang Sa archipelago).
Specifically, Hung Yen has 1 ship/10 people; Ninh Binh 137 ships/284 people; Thanh Hoa 27 ships/72 people; Nghe An 173 ships/675 people; Ha Tinh 9 ships/20 people; Quang Tri 27 ships/148 people; Da Nang 12 ships/77 people; Quang Ngai 39 ships/274 people.
To ensure safety, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment requests the People's Committees of provinces and cities to urgently mobilize all forces and means to call for and guide; take coercive measures to bring boats to shore for anchoring.
The People's Committees of the above-mentioned provinces and cities shall be fully responsible to the Prime Minister for ensuring the safety of vessels and strictly implementing the contents of Official Dispatch No. 117/CD-TTg, dated July 20, 2025 of the Prime Minister.
