Proposal to open temporary anchorage area for international ships to Nha Trang

The Maritime Administration - Ministry of Transport proposed to immediately establish a temporary anchorage area in the sea area north of Nha Trang City (Khanh Hoa) to welcome international cruise ships.

On October 25, during a working session with Khanh Hoa province, Mr. Le Do Muoi - Director of the Maritime Administration - proposed that Khanh Hoa province immediately establish a temporary anchorage area to welcome international tourist ships to Nha Trang, while Nha Trang port is under repair.

According to Mr. Muoi, the fact that international cruise lines have canceled many trips to Nha Trang is a significant loss for the tourism industry. The large number of cruise ship passengers coming to Nha Trang every year brings many economic and tourism benefits to the locality.

Mr. Muoi also assigned the planning and investment department of the Maritime Administration to guide the Nha Trang Maritime Port Authority and businesses to immediately establish a temporary anchorage area in the northern area of Nha Trang. The above anchorage point must be able to receive two international cruise ships.

In addition, the Maritime Administration proposed that Cam Ranh International Port continue to upgrade its facilities, creating favorable conditions for international tourists to come to Nha Trang, and shipping lines also have more choices.

Cam Ranh port recently welcomed its first cruise ship while Nha Trang port was under repair, bringing 2,300 tourists to Nha Trang.

At the same time, it is recommended that Ana Marina International Marina Company, which has modern facilities and equipment that meet standards for serving international cruise and cruise ship passengers, continue to improve its facilities and arrange a working area for authorities when receiving passengers from international cruise ships.

To have more options, the Maritime Administration also assigned the planning and investment department and Nha Trang Maritime Port Authority to work with the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province to expand the seaport waters at Nha Phu lagoon (Ninh Hoa town), combining storm shelter and welcoming tourist ships here.
