To give children a fun summer

Summer vacation is always eagerly awaited by children, but it also causes many parents to worry about arranging work and time to care for their children. Depending on family circumstances, each person has their own way of ensuring safety while creating opportunities for their children to rest, learn, and develop.

Summer is the time when Ms. Huynh Thi Thuy Duong (An Thanh commune, Ben Luc district) can spend more time with and care for her children.

For Ms. Huynh Thi Thuy Duong (An Thanh commune, Ben Luc district, Long An province), summer is a time when she can spend more time with her children. As the mother of a son in 6th grade and a daughter in 2nd grade, she is a full-time housewife, so during the school year she is always busy picking up and dropping off her children and closely monitoring their studies. In the summer, with more free time, she shifts her caregiving approach to a more relaxed and joyful way.

Ms. Duong shared: "I teach my children some household chores like cooking and cleaning. Every morning, the whole family cleans together before breakfast, which is both a way to teach them life skills and to help them understand more about their responsibilities within the family."

Besides her daily work, she also plans short trips for her family, such as visiting her hometown or sightseeing. These trips are opportunities for Ms. Duong's family to experience new things together, helping her children explore the world around them and learn interesting things about different cultures. It's also a chance for family members to bond and create beautiful memories during the summer.

Many parents send their children to extracurricular classes so that they can have more new experiences.

Unlike Ms. Duong, who has more control over her time, Mr. and Mrs. Nguyen Duy Linh (Phuoc Ly commune, Can Giuoc district) have to plan more carefully because both are busy with work and cannot be home with their children regularly during the summer. They have to send their children to their grandparents on both sides to take turns caring for them.

“My child will be starting 5th grade next school year. This summer, he's going back to the countryside to stay with his grandparents so he can have someone to look after him and play freely with his siblings. I also feel more at ease knowing that he will be well cared for at his grandparents' house,” said Mr. Linh.

According to Mr. Linh, returning to the countryside during the summer not only helps children relax but also strengthens their bond with their grandparents; at the same time, it allows them to connect with nature and a simple way of life that they don't have the opportunity to experience during the school year.

Many other families also choose to send their children to extracurricular classes, skills summer camps, or coordinate with relatives to look after them in shifts to reduce stress. Whichever method they choose, the common goal remains the same: to ensure the safety, enjoyment, and practical value for their children during the holidays.

To ensure children have a balance between learning and fun during the summer holidays, parents need to be flexible in arranging their time, seek support from relatives, or invest in extra skills training for their children. All of these demonstrate parents' practical concern for their children, tailored to each family's circumstances.
