Come to Thai Nguyen, experience ziplining and crossing Dong Tien waterfall

“Going mountain climbing?”, the woman who was working hard in the tea fields in Quan Chu town (Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen) asked with a smile when she saw us passing by in our outdoor clothes. It turns out that this land, famous for its tea, has now gradually become accustomed to the footsteps of tourists coming to explore and experience the mountains and forests.

Just 2 hours from Hanoi, my group of friends and I arrived at Dom Dom Farm, a converted accommodation from a traditional stilt house of the indigenous Dao people. In the middle of summer, the green of rice, tea, grass, trees... fills both sides of the road to the garden in the farm. Dai Tu district has 10 communes located at the foot of the eastern mountain of Tam Dao, with many streams, waterfalls, and rocky beaches created by nature. The majestic and poetic scenery is ideal for ecotourism and adventure sports activities. We came here this time, in addition to bathing in the stream and camping, for an experience that promises to be interesting and exciting for the first time in Thai Nguyen: canyoning at Dong Tien waterfall cluster. Before departure, the whole group was introduced to how to use professional equipment and practice the necessary skills by safety experts from Thai Nguyen Adventure, the tour operator.

From the edge of the forest, our 5km trekking journey was a relaxing “forest bathing” among ancient tea trees, purple sim hills, and clear streams. And then the 3-storey Dong Tien waterfall cluster appeared with white foaming streams. The guides and safety assistants quickly got into position and supported each member to play canyoning and zipline. Canyoning is an outdoor adventure sport that has only recently appeared in a few localities in Vietnam such as Lam Dong , Thua Thien Hue, Lao Cai, Thai Nguyen... The strong water flow creates resistance and noise, requiring canyoning players to concentrate and be a bit reckless, but the “reward” is completely worth it: the feeling of overcoming challenges and immersing ourselves in the beautiful wild nature. Exhausted, the group swam, paddled SUP, took photos, and ate to replenish their energy next to the emerald green lakes at the foot of the waterfall.

The 2-day-1-night trip brought us more emotions than expected. The name Thai Nguyen has so many interesting things to invite tourists who are passionate about conquering nature and themselves.
