(CLO) That was the request of Vice Chairman of Quang Binh Provincial People's Committee Hoang Xuan Tan at the ceremony to receive the Decision to recognize Lieu Hanh Holy Mother Temple in Vinh Son village, Quang Dong commune as a tourist destination organized by Quang Trach district on October 19.

Lieu Hanh Temple was built in 1557 (Later Le Dynasty), worshiping Lieu Hanh, one of the "Four Immortals" of Vietnamese folk beliefs - also known by other names such as Lieu Hanh Princess Temple or Lieu Hanh Mother Temple.

Soon the city of Mau Lieu Hanh became the leading spiritual and cultural tourist destination of the province.

This temple has a long history and cultural value, associated with many mysterious and thrilling stories, associated with the legend of Princess Lieu Hanh, an important figure in the history of the development of Vietnamese folk beliefs.

According to the legend of Princess Lieu Hanh, she was the second daughter of the Jade Emperor named Quynh Hoa, the mother who ruled over the sky, the holy mother who headed the system of Tam Phu, Tu Phu worshiping the Mother Goddess of the Vietnamese people.

Lieu Hanh Holy Mother Temple is located at the foot of Ngang Pass, on a flat land. Behind the temple is the majestic Hoanh Son range, a famous place that has entered the poetry and thoughts of the Vietnamese people. The temple faces the East Sea and the arrangement of the levels from the Front Temple and the Back Temple creates a majestic and solemn look.

The temple is not only sacred and ancient but also has beautiful landscapes, many people visit and offer incense, especially at the beginning of the new year.

Soon the city of Mau Lieu Hanh will become the leading spiritual and cultural tourist destination of the province.

Besides the Lieu Hanh Holy Mother Temple, this area also has the Hoanh Son Quan relic - a citadel structure located on the top of Ngang Pass, which plays an important role in Vietnamese history. Hoanh Son Quan was built during the reign of King Minh Mang, has a strategic position on the North-South highway and is still quite intact.

Notably, recently, during the process of preserving and restoring the relic site of the Holy Mother Lieu Hanh Temple, the local government discovered a system of ancient stone steps connecting the temple to Hoanh Son Quan, with more than 1,000 intact steps. According to historical documents, this was once a vestige of the North-South highway, an important route for travel in the past.

With historical, cultural significance and tourism value, on April 24, 2024, the Provincial People's Committee issued Decision No. 1037/QB-UBND recognizing the tourist destination of Lieu Hanh Holy Mother Temple.

Soon the city of Mau Lieu Hanh will become the leading spiritual and cultural tourist destination of the province.

Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Xuan Tan presented the decision to recognize the tourist site of Lieu Hanh Holy Mother Temple to the leaders of Quang Trach district.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Hoang Xuan Tan emphasized that the recognition of Lieu Hanh Holy Mother Temple as a provincial-level tourist destination is an opportunity for Quang Trach district to continue to promote the preservation and promotion of the values of the relic site, both in terms of cultural and social development and tourism and economic development.

“Quang Trach district coordinates with relevant departments, branches and units to effectively implement the contents of the decision, soon turning Lieu Hanh Holy Mother Temple into a leading cultural and spiritual tourist destination of the province, making an important contribution to the development of tourism in the province”, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested.

According to Mr. Hoang Xuan Tan, in the process of exploitation and development, it is necessary to pay attention to connecting with the historical relic of Hoanh Son Quan and the North-South highway through Ngang Pass, the Tomb of General Vo Nguyen Giap; pay attention to preserving and developing ancient art forms associated with serving the people and tourists. Lieu Hanh Holy Mother Temple is both a tourist destination and a provincial historical relic, so it is necessary to comply with the Law on Tourism and the Law on Cultural Heritage; especially the organization of the management and exploitation apparatus of tourism to ensure compliance with State regulations.
