According to the reporter's records on the afternoon of July 29, the traffic light pole from Ly Thuong Kiet Street to National Highway 1 operates normally when the signal turns red, but when it turns green, the light is both green and red at the same time and displays the number of seconds. Quite far from this traffic light pole, there are 2 notice boards "traffic light is damaged, vehicles pay attention".

Many road users here are therefore confused about whether to stop or continue when the traffic light turns green or red. They observe carefully before allowing their vehicles to pass through the intersection. A local trader near the intersection said that this “abnormal” traffic light situation has been going on for over a month now.

Many drivers do not dare to pass when the signal light is faulty, causing the car behind to honk loudly. There have been collisions between two cars when the car in front hesitated. In particular, some drivers use their phones to record videos as evidence when deciding to pass a faulty signal light.

In addition, traffic lights at the intersection of National Highway 1 - Dien Bien Phu (Nam Dong Ha ward), National Highway 1 - Tran Hung Dao (Quang Tri ward) have also been operating erratically in recent days, posing many potential traffic safety risks. By early afternoon on July 29, the lights at National Highway 1 - Tran Hung Dao had returned to normal operation.

Discussing this issue, Director of the Department of Construction Truong Chi Trung said that the current traffic light system is managed by the locality in terms of assets and operations belong to the Provincial Police, specifically the Traffic Police Department.

"We will soon have a document requesting localities to review and handle damage at traffic light clusters in the area to ensure traffic safety," said Mr. Trung.
