Tourists learn makeup tips at Neu Haus studio, Yongsan-gu, Seoul

Seoul has emerged as a global beauty mecca. As Korean culture continues to explode around the world , tourists are increasingly flocking to the country's capital to immerse themselves in the world of K-beauty.

Instead of just focusing on shopping for products, many people are heading to makeup studios in Seoul, discovering the secrets behind the radiant skin of Korean stars.

Famous studios located in Seoul's trendiest neighborhoods now cater not only to celebrities but also to a diverse clientele.

The studios' message is not just about makeup services but also a cultural experience, helping customers connect with the latest Korean-style beauty trends and techniques.

According to Kim Han-sol, a makeup artist at Neu Haus, a studio located in Yongsan District, central Seoul, beauty sessions at her studio are part of the itinerary for international tourists .

Clients often choose hair and makeup packages, then head to the photo studio to have their images professionally or naturally taken. “The whole thing has become a new kind of experience,” Kim says.

Makeup studios in Seoul, including Neu Haus, have embraced this personalization trend by offering makeup lessons in addition to regular services.

For many international guests, makeup lessons offer the opportunity to learn Korean beauty secrets directly from the experts, and apply the techniques learned to best suit their own faces.

“Usually a Korean person helps guests make reservations, but recently we’ve been getting requests from travel agencies as well,” Kim said. Some guests even bring along an interpreter to optimize their experience and learn techniques they can use when they return home.

One client who impressed Kim was a man who booked a makeup lesson for his 70-year-old mother. He was inspired after a co-worker attended a class at the studio and saw the dramatic transformation, so he wanted his mother to experience it too.

"Regardless of nationality, gender or age, everyone wants to feel more beautiful, this is normal," Kim said.
