(HG) - At the Sam Mountain National Tourist Area, Chau Doc City, the People's Committee of An Giang Province solemnly held a ceremony to receive the UNESCO certificate recognizing the Ba Chua Xu Festival of Sam Mountain as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity. Attending were Mr. Mai Van Chinh, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Prime Minister. Representing the leaders of Hau Giang Province, was Mr. Tran Chi Hung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

The Ba Chua Xu Temple Festival in Sam Mountain is the 16th intangible cultural heritage of Vietnam, the second in the South (after the Southern amateur music art) recognized by UNESCO, a worthy recognition of unique and lasting cultural values, a source of pride for the people of An Giang in particular, the Southern region and the whole country in general. The festival is a synthesis of the Mother Goddess worship beliefs of the Vietnamese, Cham, Khmer and Chinese ethnic groups, a place to express spiritual beliefs and the exchange of fine traditional cultures of the nation. Coming here, visitors can admire the majestic beauty of Ba Chua Xu Temple, witness and participate in vibrant festival activities with rituals such as: the Ba bathing ceremony, the procession of the Ba statue, along with many unique cultural and artistic activities: lion dance, opera, folk games... The festival takes place from the 22nd to the 27th of the fourth lunar month every year, attracting millions of visitors.
