COVID-19 epidemic today: 5th day of increasing cases, 497 cases recorded

According to the Ministry of Health , from 4:00 p.m. on April 12 to 4:00 p.m. on April 13, the country recorded 497 COVID-19 cases, continuing to increase compared to the previous day and the 5th day of recorded increase in cases.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Vietnam has had 11,528,800 COVID-19 infections, ranking 13th out of 230 countries and territories. In terms of the number of infections per 1 million people, Vietnam ranks 121st out of 230 countries and territories (an average of 116,507 infections per 1 million people).

During the day, 37 more patients were announced to have recovered, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases cured to 10,615,217. The number of patients currently on oxygen is 8.

The total number of deaths from COVID-19 in Vietnam since the beginning of the epidemic is 43,186, accounting for 0.4% of the total number of infections.

Meanwhile, on April 12, 6,134 doses of COVID-19 vaccine were administered. Thus, the total number of vaccine doses administered to date is 266,064,554.

The Ministry of Health said that with the basic dose, Vietnam has covered almost 100% of people aged 12 and above; the 3rd and 4th doses also reached a high rate of 80-90%. The vaccination rate for children aged 5 to under 12 years old with the first dose is also up to 90%, the second dose is nearly 70%.

To prevent the disease, the Ministry of Health recommends that people get vaccinated fully and on schedule. People at high risk should wear masks when going to crowded places or in closed environments. Other people should also wear masks when going to medical facilities or using public transportation.
