On June 19, the Diplomatic Academy announced the admission benchmark based on high school transcripts. This method accounts for 70% of the total 2,200 quotas this year.
In the groups A01 (Math, Physics, English), D01 (Math, Literature, English), D07 (Math, Chemistry, English), the school takes the standard score from 26.25 to 29. Of which, American Studies is the lowest and International Communications is the highest.
Candidates will be applied a standard score 1 point lower than the above level if they register for admission with the groups A00 (Math, Physics, Chemistry), D03 (Math, Literature, French), D04 (Math, Literature, Chinese) and D06 (Math, Literature, Japanese).
Candidates using combination C00 (Literature, History, Geography) have a standard score 1 point higher. Thus, the International Communication major takes 30 points in combination C00.
Candidates who are considered for early admission based on their academic records must have an average score of 8 or higher in any 3 semesters (except for the second semester of grade 12), and have one of the following achievements: winning a provincial-level excellent student award; winning official awards in international art competitions in singing, dancing, music, and fine arts; being on the national team for international sports competitions; being a student at a specialized school; or having an international language certificate equivalent to IELTS 6.0.
The admission score is the average score of three subjects in the admission group in any three semesters, plus priority and incentive points.
For English Language major only, admission score is calculated according to the formula:
A x 3/42 + B + C
In which, A is the average score of the English subject multiplied by a factor of 2 and the average score of the two remaining subjects in the combination in 3 semesters of high school. B is the priority score and C is the encouragement score.
Priority points are calculated by the school according to the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training , maximum 2.5. With incentive points, the school adds many levels, depending on the candidate's achievements. The incentive bonus level can be up to more than 10 points.
Due to the many incentive points, the candidate's admission score can be more than 30. The Ministry of Education and Training stipulates that schools must ensure that the admission score is not greater than 30, so the Diplomatic Academy converted it to 30 according to the formula.
Accordingly, the official score of the candidate is recognized as the admission score calculated according to the above formula multiplied by 0.88.
The Diplomatic Academy affirms that converting admission scores does not change the results and admission order of candidates.
