Unused rooftop solar power can be sold to the grid at no more than 20% of capacity.

The Prime Minister requested that the Decree should encourage the development of self-produced and self-consumed rooftop solar power to promote Vietnam's unique potential, outstanding opportunities, and competitive advantages in solar power.

At the meeting, after listening to the report of the Ministry of Industry and Trade (the agency in charge of drafting the draft Decree) and the opinions of the delegates attending the meeting, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested the Ministry of Industry and Trade to absorb the opinions to complete the draft Decree and submit it to the Government for promulgation next week.

The Prime Minister requested that the Decree should encourage the development of self-produced and self-consumed rooftop solar power to promote Vietnam's unique potential, outstanding opportunities, and competitive advantages in solar power.

The Prime Minister also requested agencies to closely follow the development of rooftop solar power and propose to competent authorities to adjust related planning when necessary.

Accordingly, organizations and individuals investing in this system that do not fully utilize it will be allowed to sell to the grid no more than 20% of the installed capacity at the average price of the previous year; regulations are expanded to allow transactions and purchase of rooftop solar power for self-use in industrial parks, export processing zones, economic zones, and high-tech zones.

The Prime Minister also requested agencies to closely monitor the situation and propose to competent authorities to adjust relevant planning when necessary.
