Many big names in Asian cinema will come to the 3rd Da Nang Asian Film Festival (June 29 - July 5). Most notably, Ji Chang-wook - the actor of the movie "Empress Ki" is loved by Vietnamese audiences.
Ji Chang-wook started acting in 2006, but it wasn't until 2010-2013 that he became known to the audience, through the series "Smile, Dong Hae," "Empress Ki" and "Savior." Of which, "Empress Ki" was especially popular with Asian audiences.
From 2016 to present, Ji Chang-wook has appeared in many other popular films such as "The K2" (2016), "Suspicious Partner" (2017), "Love struck in the City" on Netflix and "The Worst of Evil" (2023) on Disney+.
Through his films, the actor born in 1987 convinced audiences with his deep and powerful acting, receiving many domestic and regional awards such as Asia Artist Awards, Baeksang Arts Awards, China TV Drama Awards...
Inviting this star shows the organizers' efforts to expand the scale and raise the level of the film festival, expressing the expectation of becoming a new meeting place for Asian cinema.
According to the DANAFF organizers, Ji Chang-wook will come with producer Jae Duk-han (producer of the film "Oldboy" and producer of the film "The Spy Gone North" ). Both will appear in audience interaction activities, red carpet and film seminars.
This is also a response activity for Korean Cinema Spotlight - one of the most notable programs of this year's film festival.
Besides Ji Chang-wook, many other big names in the production industry have also confirmed their participation in the Da Nang Asian Film Festival, such as Jang Joon-hwan - director of "1987: When the day comes" - the film once made the South Korean president cry; Shozo Ichiyama - Palme d'Or nominee (Cannes Film Festival) and "close friend" of director Jia Zhangke; Yuji Sadai - owner of the film production company behind the 2022 Oscar-winning work "Drive my car."
At this year's DANAFF, Jang Joo-hwan is the president of the jury for the Asian Film Competition category, the most important category of the program. Shozo Ichiyama is a member of the jury. Other members include Director of the Vesoul International Film Festival (France) Martine Thérouanne, actor-producer Cayetana Guillén Cuervo - President of the Spanish Academy of Performing Arts and actor-People's Artist Minh Chau.
Mr. Yuji Sadai will be a member of the jury for the Vietnamese Film Competition. The chairman of the jury for this category is producer Aude Hesbert, other members include actor Huynh Kien An, director Phan Gia Nhat Linh and producer Ngo Thi Bich Hanh (BHD)./.
The third Da Nang Asian Film Festival in 2025 will feature many film activities such as screenings of post-1975 Vietnamese war films, screenings of Asian films, and special Korean films; seminars on war filmmaking, developing film talent, and learning from international experiences.
