On May 5, according to a quick report from the Nam Dinh Provincial Department of Health, Mr. Tran Huy Doan, Deputy Director of the Nam Dinh Provincial Department of Health, said that Nam Dinh Provincial General Hospital had accepted responsibility for the incident related to the examination and emergency treatment process of a 4-year-old patient who had a traffic accident on May 3.

Initially, the hospital has suspended a number of medical staff to verify and clarify the incident. The verification team is also continuing to work with a number of related individuals to clarify the incident; continue to review the process of receiving and handling emergency care for pediatric patients in this case in particular and the process of emergency care, medical examination and treatment in general; continue to improve the spirit, communication attitude and medical ethics of medical staff.

"Violations will be strictly handled according to regulations," the report of the Nam Dinh Provincial Department of Health affirmed.

The leaders of the Department of Health of Nam Dinh province also directed the Board of Directors of Nam Dinh General Hospital to immediately rectify the regular work; review the reception process, examination, emergency care and treatment of emergency patients according to regulations; continue to promote and improve the attitude and communication of medical staff.

At the same time, continue to coordinate with the National Children's Hospital to review the unit's existing emergency procedures and professional regulations to detect any shortcomings or limitations in expertise (if any), promptly correct and overcome them, and report to the Department of Health.

Seriously review the incident, consider the responsibility of individuals and on-duty crew; violations must be strictly handled according to regulations; report to the Department of Health.

Previously, on May 3, the Nam Dinh Provincial Department of Health said that the unit had received information about the process of emergency examination of patients at Nam Dinh Provincial General Hospital on social networks, including the content "pay in full before going to the emergency room". Immediately after that, the Provincial Department of Health directly directed the Provincial General Hospital to review the hospital's procedures for medical examination, treatment, and emergency treatment of patients, especially the content related to people's feedback on social networks.

On the morning of May 4, the Department of Health directly worked with the Provincial General Hospital and directed the Hospital to coordinate with the Internal Political Security Department and the Provincial Police to verify information about the incident; proactively coordinate with the National Children's Hospital to review the emergency procedures and current professional regulations of the unit to detect any existing problems and limitations in expertise (if any), promptly correct and overcome them, and report to the Department of Health.

The Department of Health and the Provincial General Hospital also worked with the person who brought the child patient to the hospital and recorded a video reflecting the incident to clarify some related contents.

The child's health is no longer critical.

This morning (May 5), Minister of Health Dao Hong Lan visited patient MTA who is being treated at the National Children's Hospital. The patient's health has improved a lot. After 1 day on a ventilator, he is now off the ventilator and breathing on his own.

"The patient has passed the critical stage. We will do our best to provide the best treatment for him," said Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Minh Dien, Director of the National Children's Hospital.

According to Minister Dao Hong Lan, the Ministry of Health is focusing on continuing to innovate the spirit and attitude of serving the people, and many criteria have been put forward to ensure people's satisfaction with the health sector.

"The issue of emergency treatment for patients is always the top priority for any reason, as stipulated in the law and many directives and directions of the Ministry of Health up to now," the Minister emphasized.

The head of the health sector also said that to ensure objectivity, the Nam Dinh Department of Health invited PA03 - Nam Dinh Provincial Police to review all procedures for receiving and handling related to MTA's case.

The results will be reported to the Chairman of the Nam Dinh Provincial People's Committee and the Ministry of Health for appropriate handling. The general spirit is that if there are violations, they will be strictly handled, said Minister Dao Hong Lan.
