Brand positioning, creating a new vision for tourism of "Livable City"

The workshop “Orientation for Da Nang tourism development in the new period” held this afternoon (October 17) is considered an important first step for the livable city to reposition its brand, find solutions to the problem of sustainable development, and effectively exploit heritage resources and cultural identity of Quang Nam.

On the afternoon of October 17, at the Ariyana International Convention Palace in Da Nang, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang City chaired and coordinated with relevant units to organize the Workshop "Orientation for Da Nang tourism development in the new period".

At the workshop, delegates, experts and managers focused on discussing and proposing solutions for Da Nang tourism development in the period of 2025 - 2030, with a vision to 2050; emphasizing the positioning of Da Nang tourism brand to become a leading international tourism center in Southeast Asia, with strengths as a coastal resort city, festivals, events and creativity.

According to Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh, Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), in the period of 2026 - 2030, Vietnam tourism will strongly shift to green tourism trends, applying technology to bring diverse experience values, high quality, towards inclusive goals of economic and social efficiency.

In that general context, Da Nang needs to determine the goal by 2030, positioning Da Nang tourism brand to become the leading international tourism center in the region as a high-quality coastal resort, festival, event, creative city... in Southeast Asia. At the same time, continue to improve connectivity and tourism infrastructure conditions; develop and enhance the quality of unique tourism products and diversify experience values; focus on environmental protection, develop green tourism; research and issue specific support policies and destination management.

"Therefore, the workshop "Orientation for Da Nang tourism development in the new period" this time is a strategic activity, helping the city reposition its brand, plan specific solutions to restructure, accelerate and break through the tourism industry; contributing to realizing the goal of sustainable growth in 2025 and the following years", the Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism emphasized.

Speaking about the city's tourism development orientation, Ms. Truong Thi Hong Hanh, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Da Nang, said that the workshop was an opportunity for the city to listen to the opinions and proposals of delegates and experts at home and abroad, thereby building plans to adjust the planning and development strategy in line with new trends. Da Nang aims to effectively exploit natural resources associated with the traditional values, history and rich indigenous culture of the land of Quang.

According to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Da Nang's tourism industry is recovering strongly and continues to affirm its position on the international tourism map. After merging with the former Quang Nam province, the urban space has expanded 10 times, helping the city possess many competitive advantages and great development opportunities for the tourism industry.

In the first 9 months of 2025, the total number of guests served by accommodation establishments is estimated at 14.4 million, of which international visitors are more than 5.8 million; revenue from accommodation, food and beverage and travel services reached nearly 41,000 billion VND. These figures reflect the strong growth of the city's tourism industry in the post-merger period, and at the same time affirm the growing attraction of Da Nang to domestic and international tourists.
