The free market dollar continues to rise.

The State Bank of Vietnam listed the central exchange rate at 23,711 VND/USD, an increase of 15 VND. The reference exchange rate at the State Bank of Vietnam's Exchange Transaction Department was 23,400 - 24,846 VND/USD for buying and selling respectively. The state-regulated USD price is currently higher than that of commercial banks. Commercial banks increased the USD price by 10 VND; Eximbank bought at 23,250 - 23,330 VND and sold at 23,630 VND; Vietcombank bought at 23,290 - 23,320 VND and sold at 23,660 VND… USD interest rates in the interbank market for maturities under one month are higher than VND interest rates, which is rare and also makes it difficult for the USD price to fall further.

The US dollar on the free market increased by 15-65 dong, with the buying rate reaching 23,490 dong and the selling rate 23,540 dong. The free market USD has risen continuously in recent days, but the selling price is about 100 dong/USD lower than in banks.

The free market USD exchange rate continues to rise.

The USD-Index rose by 0.23 points to 104.23 points. The US dollar strengthened as members of the Federal Reserve (Fed) indicated that inflation remains high, near 5%, making a pause on interest rate hikes premature. The market is anticipating a further 0.25% interest rate increase at the June meeting. Additionally, the US debt ceiling issue remains unresolved, with negotiations continuing ahead of the June 1st deadline.

Besides information on the debt ceiling, next week the US will release several other data points that will impact the dollar, such as consumer confidence, job creation, unemployment benefit claims, ADP non- farm payrolls, ISM's PMI manufacturing index, and non-farm payrolls. These factors will affect the USD price, so investors are still eagerly awaiting the news to understand the dollar's trend.
