The National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Society's supervisory delegation worked with the Provincial People's Committee

On the afternoon of April 3, the working delegation led by Mr. Nguyen Hoang Mai, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for Culture and Social Affairs, worked with the People's Committee of Ha Nam province on the implementation of population policies and laws in the 2018-2024 period in Ha Nam province. Receiving and working with the delegation was Mr. Nguyen Anh Chuc, Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

The report on the implementation of population policies and laws in Ha Nam province in the period of 2018-2024 shows that the total fertility rate of the province has decreased but remains high, in 2024 it was 2.24 children/1 woman. Regarding population structure, the proportion of children under 15 years old in 2024 decreased compared to 2018; the sex ratio at birth decreased, Ha Nam's population is in the golden population period. People's life expectancy has increased, averaging 75.1%. The province also pays attention to population distribution, improving population quality, resources for population work and communication on population work.

At the conference, delegates in the monitoring delegation discussed issues that needed to be clarified, such as: communication work, child and elderly care, support policies for population collaborators, solutions to adapt to the problem of population aging, gender imbalance at birth, etc. Based on the opinions of the monitoring delegation, representatives of the provincial departments and branches also informed and clarified the causes and solutions for implementation in the coming time.

Speaking at the meeting, comrade Nguyen Anh Chuc, member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee emphasized: Ha Nam province always pays attention to population work, the province always pays attention to allocating budget for population work, doing a good job of population communication... Based on the opinions of the monitoring delegation, the province will study and implement and hope that after the monitoring activities, the delegation will have opinions with the Government in formulating laws and policies related to population issues.

Comrade Nguyen Hoang Mai, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Culture and Society, highly appreciated the implementation of population policies in Ha Nam province, and said: In the coming time, the province needs to further promote propaganda work to change people's thinking about population work, especially gender equality; need to take advantage of the golden population opportunity to develop the economy and society. At the same time, pay attention to taking care of people's health, especially women, children and the elderly; allocate more budget for population work, shift the focus to population and development goals...
