Ho Chi Minh City students win big at the 2024 International Drone and Robot Programming Competition

(NLĐO) - The gold medal in the junior high school category of the 2024 International Drone and Robot Programming Competition finals went to Tran Van On and Le Anh Xuan junior high schools in Ho Chi Minh City.

The "International Drone and Robotics Programming Competition 2024," organized by the Korea Aviation Association (FKA), brought together nearly 200 contestants from four countries: Mongolia, South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam.

This year's international finals were held in Hanoi with the participation of the University of Science - Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the STEM Education Center - Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, KDI Education, S3 Academy, and Kidcodes.

Contestants or teams use programming languages ​​to set up the device and perform key tasks, including programming the robot to collect relief supplies.

According to the organizers, this is an attractive playground for high school students who love STEM in general and technology and programming in particular. This playground is a gathering place for young talents, serving as an important stepping stone to promote STEM education in the country and the region.

The teams from Tran Van On Secondary School and Le Anh Xuan Secondary School (Ho Chi Minh City) excellently won the gold medal in the Secondary School competition.

In the final round, contestants from the three categories (elementary, middle, and high school) will compete in two formats: individual and team. Contestants or teams will use programming languages ​​to set up devices and perform key tasks, including: programming a robot to collect relief supplies; programming a drone to transport supplies over obstacles and drop them at the destination (for the team competition); and programming a drone to conduct a rescue flight (for the individual competition). On a pre-prepared competition board, each contestant or team will have two rounds, each consisting of surveying the location, writing and editing code, and performing the task.

Overcoming strong competitors like South Korea, the Vietnamese student delegation achieved great success at the competition.

According to the organizers, the Vietnamese student delegation achieved great success in both competition categories, topping the leaderboard in terms of performance.

Specifically, in the primary school category, the DRE6 team from Alpha Primary School excellently won the gold medal.

In particular, in the junior high school category, the gold medal went to the DRM4 team from Tran Van On Junior High School and Le Anh Xuan Junior High School (Ho Chi Minh City). The two silver medals went to the DRM3 team from Viet Anh 3 Primary, Junior High, and High School and the DRM6 team from Kim Dong Junior High School, respectively...

In the high school category, the gold medal was awarded to Mo Hyeonseo from South Korea; the two silver medals went to Pham Ngoc Truong Minh from the Practice High School of Pedagogy - Can Tho University and Punyawichiarn from Thailand...
