Ho Chi Minh City students win big at the 2024 International Drone and Robot Programming Competition

(NLDO) - The gold prize in the final round of the 2024 International Drone and Robot Programming Competition for secondary school students went to Tran Van On and Le Anh Xuan secondary schools, Ho Chi Minh City.

The "2024 International Drone and Robot Programming Competition" organized by the Korean Aerospace Association (FKA) gathered nearly 200 contestants from 4 countries: Mongolia, Korea, Thailand and Vietnam.

This year's international final round was held in Hanoi with the participation of the University of Science - VNU Hanoi, STEM Education Center - Ho Chi Minh City University of Education, KDI Education and S3 Academy, Kidcodes.

Contestants or teams use programming languages to set up devices and perform key tasks including programming robots to collect relief supplies.

According to the organizers of the competition, this is an attractive playground for high school students who love STEM in general and technology and programming in particular. This playground is a gathering place for young talents, an important stepping stone to promote STEM education in the country and the region.

Two teams from Tran Van On Secondary School and Le Anh Xuan Secondary School (HCMC) excellently won the gold medal in Secondary School.

In the final round, contestants from the three categories of primary, secondary and high school will compete in two forms: individual and team. Contestants or teams use programming languages to set up devices and perform main tasks including: Programming robots to collect relief goods; programming drones to transport goods through obstacles and then drop them at the destination (with team test); programming drones to perform rescue flights (individual test). On the sandbox prepared by the organizers, each contestant or team has two rounds, each round includes measuring the location, writing and editing code and performing the task.

Surpassing strong opponents like Korea, Vietnamese students won big at the competition.

According to the organizers, the Vietnamese student team won big in both competition categories, topping the rankings in terms of achievements.

Specifically, in the elementary category, team DRE6 of Alpha Elementary School excellently won the gold medal.

In particular, in the secondary school category, the gold prize belonged to team DRM4 of Tran Van On Secondary School and Le Anh Xuan Secondary School (HCMC). The 2 silver prizes were respectively awarded to teams DRM3 of Viet Anh 3 Primary - Secondary - High School and DRM6 of Kim Dong Secondary School...

In the high school category, the gold prize was awarded to contestant Mo Hyeonseo of Korea; 2 silver prizes went to contestants Pham Ngoc Truong Minh of Pedagogical Practice High School - Can Tho University and Punyawichiarn of Thailand...
