The tournament is organized by the Vietnam Sports and Physical Training Department in coordination with the Vietnam Association of the Elderly, the Vietnam Badminton Federation and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Dak Lak province. This year, the tournament attracted more than 300 athletes from 18 provinces and cities across the country, competing in 09 grassroots age groups and 02 leadership age groups, with the events of men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles.
Participating in the tournament, Lai Chau delegation had 05 pairs of athletes. As a result, the athlete pair Nguyen Van Phuong - Tran Thi Em excellently won the gold medal in the mixed doubles category of age group VII (66 - 70 years old). In the women's doubles category of age group I (36 - 40 years old), the athlete pair Do Thi Van - Nguyen Thi Phuong Thanh brought home the bronze medal. With this result, Lai Chau delegation ranked 11/18 participating delegations.
The achievements of the delegation not only recognize the efforts of the athletes in training and competing, but also affirm the development of the sports movement in Lai Chau, especially badminton. Thereby, contributing to improving the spiritual life, building a healthy and meaningful lifestyle for the middle-aged and elderly.
