On the evening of April 29, Vietnam Railways Corporation organized the running of a pair of trains named "Reunification Train" to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day.
VNR General Director Hoang Gia Khanh said that in addition to decorating the stations with the theme “Unified Railway – A united country”, train passengers will be able to experience the festival atmosphere with art programs featuring revolutionary songs praising the homeland.
The two trains were full with a total of 800 passengers.
Passengers gathered early at Hanoi train station, everyone was excited to board this special train.
Vietnam Railways hopes that each passenger on this train will appreciate the value of independence and freedom and love their homeland and country more.
Through this activity, the Railway industry wants to send a message to young people to preserve the tradition of "When drinking water, remember its source", and be grateful to the previous generation who sacrificed for independence and peace.
Passengers traveling on the “Reunification Train” SE1 will enjoy live music on the train from Hue station to Da Nang; and will be welcomed with a special ceremony at Da Nang station on April 30.
The train became the clearest symbol of national unity, connecting the two ends of the country after many years of division.
On train SE1, there were many families of passengers wearing red shirts with yellow stars, excited to join in the joyful atmosphere of the whole nation at the moment of 50 years of unification.
Ms. Nguyen Thuy Nga (Hai Ba Trung district, Hanoi) shared: "It's not just a trip, I really want my children to experience the joyful atmosphere of the country, so that they can understand more about the country's history."
At exactly 20:50, train SE1 rolled away.
The song "As if Uncle Ho were here on the great victory day" was sung by hundreds of people standing at the station to see them off and by passengers on the train.
