On the afternoon of October 2, within the framework of the 3rd Vietnam New Economic Forum, a discussion session took place on "Solutions to strengthen internal strength, develop new economic models, and enhance position and value in global supply chains".

At the discussion session, Mr. Nguyen Trung Chinh, Chairman of CMC Group, said that Resolution 57 with its orientation of taking science and technology, digital transformation and innovation as the center of breakthroughs, while Resolution 68 affirms that the private economy is the most important driving force of the economy, is the answer to the question: "How to change the country?".

According to the Chairman of CMC, we can only change with a new approach, in which science and technology, digital transformation and innovation must become key driving forces - solving core issues such as labor productivity, added value, as well as increasing endogenous capacity for Vietnam to participate more deeply in the global value chain.

Since the four pillars (Resolution 57, Resolution 59, Resolution 66, Resolution 68) were issued, many technology businesses have been very excited.

"Now with two new resolutions, Resolution 71 and Resolution 72, considered as a "set of six resolutions", a complete and comprehensive policy system has been created, demonstrating the strategic vision of the Party and State.

Therefore, the important issue now is no longer orientation, but how to quickly and effectively implement policies from the Central Government," Chairman Nguyen Trung Chinh shared.

Large enterprises need to play a leading role

In countries like China or Korea, large enterprises often play the leading role to lead and pull small businesses.

Meanwhile, small and medium enterprises in Vietnam still face many difficulties. If we only rely on interest rate support or other incentives, it is not enough. We need large enterprises to strongly lead to create a boost for the entire ecosystem.

"In addition, the lesson from India is worth pondering: From a processing country, it has now risen to become an information technology powerhouse. Thus, this shows that the processing stage is not bad, but it is important that we know how to transform - from being an employee to becoming an owner," Mr. Chinh cited.

In the development process, added value will lie in knowledge, brand and creativity. This is what Vietnamese enterprises still lack, especially the brand factor.

China has significantly shortened the processing stage, going straight to product development and building a global brand. Vietnam also needs to aim to master technology, create intellectual products and build an international brand, instead of always being used to the role of “hired worker”.

AI helps increase labor productivity

Vietnam currently ranks 5th in the world in software production and 3rd in the world in software export, just behind China and India. This confirms that Vietnam has a great foundation and potential in the technology field.

“CMC started from processing and learning technology, but now we have technology products ranked in the Top 12 in the world according to the American Standards Institute.

We have also carried out digital transformation for leading Japanese corporations such as Honda, helping them change their design processes, increasing productivity by up to 30%. This is a testament to Vietnam's technological capacity and potential," Mr. Chinh affirmed.

Along with that, the development of artificial intelligence is being increasingly applied strongly and is expected to create added value of up to 15,700 billion USD for the global economy by 2030.

This figure reflects the great potential of AI to contribute to optimizing processes, improving labor productivity and driving global economic growth. AI is also expected to increase labor productivity by 40% by 2035.

AI is not only for technology businesses, but any business or individual can apply it to improve productivity and create new value.
