After 2 trade promotions at the Vietnamese Goods Week in Thailand (2022, 2023), the MISS EDE brand from Buon Ma Thuot city has successfully signed a contract to directly import finished chocolate and coffee products into the second largest supermarket and convenience store system in Thailand, TOPs, with Central Group.
Consumers in Gyeongnam Province, South Korea are excited about Dak Lak chocolate products |
In the past 12 months, after 3 times of participating in promotion in Korea with localities such as Seoul, Gwangju, Jeollanam, Jeollabuk, Gyeongnam through forms such as business negotiation meetings (B2B), international food exhibitions, EDE Farm Service Trading Co., Ltd. (brand name MISS EDE) has reached tens of thousands of consumers and hundreds of Korean partners and buyers.
Mr. Hoang Danh Huu - founder of the MISS EDE brand said that by participating in professional exhibitions in the Thai and Korean markets, businesses want to directly export products to markets where Vietnam and that country have preferential import tax rates through free trade agreements (FTAs). This is to help businesses avoid tariff barriers that make it difficult to compete in the neighboring market.
However, according to Mr. Hoang Danh Huu, it is not easy for a complete Vietnamese food brand to officially import into a foreign modern retail channel for their local people. However, the great advantage of being recognized as a Social Impact Business (SIB) has helped the enterprise attract large enterprises in the host country.
“Large retail corporations are now looking for products in the sustainable consumption group , which is one of the important criteria for their ESG profile (the “green economy ” profile). Of course, in addition to the above factors, businesses also need to have good quality and sales potential through a distinct brand identity to be able to attract foreign buyers,” said Mr. Hoang Huu Danh.
As one of the 9 SIB (Social Impact Business) enterprises in the intensive group in 2022 and 2023 sponsored by "Supporting the Ecosystem of Social Impact Enterprises in Vietnam to Respond to Covid-19" (ISEE-COVID) of the United Nations Program (UNDP) in Vietnam, MISS EDE is also a rare brand from Dak Lak province that is recognized and funded with seed capital to develop the business through a number of criteria such as: Cultivation areas meeting global sustainability standards such as Rainforest Alliance, 4C; business activities prioritizing vulnerable labor groups such as women and indigenous minorities; brand identity building activities associated with indigenous culture...
After receiving this recognition, the brand has been continuously distributed by professional retail groups, including 2 businesses dealing in specialties and duty-free shops at international airports in Vietnam, IPP Travel Retail (IPP Group) and CIAS. This is an on-site export channel that this business has had for nearly 2 years.
In the global trend towards sustainable consumption and impact-creating business (green economy - ESG), being recognized by a prestigious unit of the United Nations is a huge advantage that helps businesses easily access many potential markets, especially consumer markets targeting international tourists .
Mr. Park Joong Moo - Director of External Relations of Jinju City International Food and Agriculture Exhibition, Gyeongnam Province, Korea said: “MISS EDE is the only brand in the Central Highlands (Vietnam) that we directly sent an invitation letter and sponsored all expenses to participate in the Jinju International Food and Agriculture Exhibition 2023. This is a reputable enterprise in the SIBs list, in addition, I myself have also directly seen the meticulous investment in products and the way to participate in the exhibition right at the booth of this brand at the event Vietnam Goods Week in Thailand 2022 and 2023. We assess that this brand will soon have the opportunity to import into the Korean market".
Mr. Huynh Ngoc Duong - Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Dak Lak province assessed that, although being a new and small enterprise, the market approach of the MISS EDE brand is a new and wise direction; taking advantage of the global green economic trend is a direction that many other local enterprises should learn to easily create different values.
