More than 10 years ago, Hoa Son stone splitting craft village was formed along the inter-commune road Hoa Son - Hoa Nhon in Hoa Vang district , Da Nang city. Although not as old as other craft villages in Da Nang, the stone splitting craft in Hoa Son has brought a stable income, gradually helping the people here escape poverty.

Tourists visiting Hoa Son stone carving village feel like they are standing in the middle of a bustling production site with more than 150 production facilities and over 1,000 workers working hard day after day amidst the dust and bustling sounds of chiseling, chiseling, and stone cutting machines.

Hoa Son split stone village with large production facilities mainly concentrated in 02 villages Phu Thuong and Hoa Khe. Each stone production facility is usually arranged and divided into three parts: stone crushing, stone sawing and stone splitting. According to a long-time stone cutting worker, on average each person cutting the machine can cut about 2 m3 of raw stone (rumble stone) and produce about 15 m2 of paving stone, called smooth stone. Then, depending on the requirements, light workers use hammers and a thin, large iron to "split" the thickness of the 4 edges, leaving the protruding part in the middle of the stone surface, this stone is called erased stone.

Split stone produced in Hoa Son currently has 3 colors: yellow, green, mouse hair with many types, specifications, very rich in design and model. Hoa Son split stone products are very durable, meet high quality standards, used as wall cladding stone, paving for lawns, paths, fence posts, flower bed construction stone, stone steps, stone wall art, decoration in garden areas, entertainment areas and coastal resorts.

The supply of raw materials for stone factories here is quite abundant, most of the large quarries are located near production facilities in Hoa Son commune such as: Dai La quarry, Truong Ban, Ho Lan, Ho Phan, Dong Cao... In addition, there are some quarries in Hoa Ninh and Hoa Khuong communes such as: Ho Lanh Meo quarry, Ho Khe, Phuoc Nhan... Hoa Son stone products are currently very popular in the domestic and international markets, especially strong consumption during the construction season.

In order to exploit the potential and available advantages to develop Hoa Son split stone craft village in a stable direction, at the end of 2010, Hoa Vang district developed a project to plan and rearrange Hoa Son split stone village until 2015 and the following years. According to the project, environmental pollution will be thoroughly resolved, and waste stone will not be dumped haphazardly, causing loss of agricultural and forestry land. The project also addresses the issue of stabilizing prices and outputs for products, ensuring competitiveness, increasing prices and moving towards building a brand for the craft village, striving to make split stone craft become the main source of income and contribute great economic value to Hoa Son commune, Hoa Vang district by 2015.
