Rest stop on North-South highway
To ensure traffic order and safety, and facilitate people's travel during the April 30 - May 1 holidays and the peak summer tourist season in 2025, the Vietnam Road Administration provides information on the locations of rest stops, temporary stations, intersections at the expressway, services (gas stations, etc.) on the sections that have been put into operation as well as the intersections at the entrances and exits of the component projects expected to be put into operation during this time on the Eastern North-South Expressway.
Hanoi to Vinh has 4 rest stops
Specifically, the Northern area, from Phap Van to Bai Vot, is exploiting the rest stops of the Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC) at (Km227+000); Xuan Cuong station (right of route Km269+313); Xuan Khiem station (left of route Km269+410) and temporary stations on the routes Mai Son - National Highway 45 (Km329+700), Nghi Son - Dien Chau (Km427+035).
Thus, from Hanoi to Vinh, with a length of about 280km, there are 4 rest stops/temporary stations (2 stations of the investor in operation and 2 temporary stations) with an average distance of 60-70km, arranging a rest stop/temporary station to ensure the minimum stopping needs for vehicles participating in traffic on the route.
Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang has 5 rest stops
In the Southern region, from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang, there is a station on the Ho Chi Minh - Long Thanh - Dau Giay route in operation (Km41) and 4 temporary station locations on the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay route (Km47+500), Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet (Km205+092), Cam Lam - Vinh Hao (Km113) and Nha Trang - Cam Lam (Km33+930).
It can be seen that from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang with a length of about 400km, there are 5 rest stops/temporary stations (one station of the investor is operating, 2 stations have been put into partial temporary operation and 2 temporary stations) with an average distance of 60-70km, arranging a rest stop/temporary station to ensure the minimum stopping needs for vehicles.
In addition, to ensure a rest stop for vehicles on the Cam Lo - La Son route connecting Quang Tri with Hue, about 98.3km long, a temporary rest stop has been arranged at Km64+200 on the left side of the route and Km77+800 on the right side of the route.
Vietnam Road Administration said: From the North to the South, up to now there are 10 rest stops/temporary stations, of which 3 are being operated by investors, 7 are temporary stations to meet the travel needs of people.
Expressway projects put into operation on April 30 include: Bai Vot - Ham Nghi, Ham Nghi - Vung Ang; Bung - Van Ninh; Van Phong - Nha Trang; Ben Luc - Long Thanh are investing in rest stops, there are no temporary stations yet.
A representative of the Vietnam Road Administration said: The unit is directing and coordinating with agencies and units to urgently and resolutely deploy investment in the construction of 21 rest stops on the Eastern North-South Expressway.
To date, the Department of Roads has signed contracts for 18 rest stops; 1 station (Quy Nhon - Chi Thanh) is selecting an investor, expected to open bidding on May 26, 2025; 2 stations (Can Tho - Hau Giang, Hau Giang - Ca Mau station) are adjusting project information due to investment divergence and in accordance with the adjusted planning scale from 4 lanes to 6 lanes according to the Prime Minister's decision to adjust the road network planning.
Investors are urgently completing investment procedures and implementing construction of rest stops, striving to basically complete public service works before December 30, 2025 according to the direction of the Minister of Construction in Official Dispatch No. 02/CD-BXD dated March 14, 2025.
In mid-March, Minister of Construction Tran Hong Minh sent a telegram to the People's Committees of 12 provinces requesting to speed up the completion of site clearance for rest stops on the Eastern North-South Expressway.
Although the Ministry of Transport (now the Ministry of Construction) has issued many documents and dispatches to urge, the progress of the rest stop projects has not met the requirements. The main reason is that the site clearance work has not met the contract schedule, affecting the completion schedule as required by the Prime Minister. In addition, the delay in completing the investment in the construction of the rest stop also affects the plan to collect fees to the state budget.
