Kon Tum 220kV transformer station's capacity is increased to 500MVA

(Chinhphu.vn) - On April 26, the National Power Transmission Corporation (EVNNPT), the Power Transmission Project Management Board (NPTPMB) coordinated with relevant units to energize the project to increase the capacity of the 220kV Kon Tum Transformer Station from 375MVA to 500MVA.

The project is invested by EVNNPT, managed by NPTPMB, and operated by Power Transmission Company 2.

The project is implemented within the premises of the existing 220kV Kon Tum Transformer Station (TSS) in Thanh Trung village, Vinh Quang commune, Kon Tum city, Kon Tum province.

The project is to replace 2 existing 220kV-125MVA transformers with 2 new transformers, capacity 220/110/22kV-250MVA, installed outdoors (phase 1 of the project was energized in February 2025).

At the same time, complete the control - protection system, SCADA, and metering system suitable for the newly replaced transformers; renovate the fire prevention and fighting system suitable for the scale of the newly installed transformers.

Once completed, the project will support the release of power sources in the region, while enhancing the ability to connect to the regional power grid, ensuring safety and stability of the power grid in Kon Tum province.

The project is of great significance for transmitting and supplying electricity safely, continuously and stably to serve the needs of socio -economic development and ensure security and defense of Kon Tum province and neighboring areas.

Completing the project at this time is a practical action of NPTPMB towards welcoming the 4th EVNNPT Party Congress, term 2025-2030, welcoming the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025).
