On April 27, Song Tu Tay Island Infirmary (Truong Sa District) received and treated a fisherman from Binh Dinh Province who suffered from decompression sickness while fishing in the Truong Sa archipelago.

Accordingly, on April 26, after diving 3 times to catch seafood in an area 20 nautical miles from Song Tu Tay Island, fisherman Dang An (born in 1992, from Binh Dinh province, a crew member of fishing boat BD 98291TS) suffered from pain, numbness, weakness in both limbs, and slurred speech. At about 1:30 a.m. on April 27, the patient was taken to Song Tu Tay Island Infirmary for emergency treatment in a conscious state with good communication.

After receiving the patient, the doctors at Song Tu Tay Island Infirmary reported to their superiors and conducted an examination; the doctors diagnosed the patient with acute decompression sickness, severe (type 2) due to diving at a depth of 35m. The doctors consulted with the Naval Medical Institute to treat the patient with re-compression according to the protocol, intravenous fluids, oxygen inhalation... and continued monitoring.
