Strengthen inspection and control of counterfeit and poor quality cosmetics

The document stated that recently, through post-inspection work and feedback from consumers and the media, the Ministry of Health has found that the situation of trading in cosmetic products that are hand-carried, counterfeit, of unknown origin, of unassured quality and commercial fraud in the field of cosmetics has become increasingly complicated, affecting people's health, consumer rights and the reputation of the domestic cosmetics industry. In order to proactively control the quality of cosmetics circulating on the market and ensure the legitimate rights of consumers, the Ministry of Health requested the People's Committees of provinces and cities to direct relevant agencies and units to strengthen inspection and examination of cosmetic production and trading activities, focusing on products of unknown origin, not declared according to regulations; cosmetics with false advertising, improper labeling; online business activities, especially on social networking platforms and e-commerce platforms. At the same time, regularly conduct post-inspection of cosmetic products in circulation on the market through sampling and testing, strictly handle violations; recall and destroy all types of cosmetics suspected of being fake, of unknown origin, of poor quality, and unsafe for consumers.

The provincial and municipal People's Committees direct the health sector to closely coordinate with relevant agencies to promptly detect and prevent acts of production, storage and trade of fake and substandard cosmetics; strictly handle organizations and individuals who violate the law; promote communication to raise people's awareness to be vigilant and denounce violations...
