NU (Netherlands) revealed that coach Andries Jonker planned to learn about the Vietnamese women's team from October 2022, right after the draw for the 2023 Women's World Cup group stage. This is not an easy task because the Vietnamese women's team rarely competes internationally. Most Vietnamese players (except Huynh Nhu) play domestically.

The opportunity only came to the scout team of the Dutch Football Association (KNVB) when coach Mai Duc Chung and his team went to Nepal to compete in the 2024 Olympic qualifiers.

" In April this year, the first opportunity to watch the Vietnamese team live came. The team, which is participating in the World Cup for the first time, went to Nepal to compete in the 2024 Olympic qualifiers in Asia. A KNVB scout flew to Nepal and watched them play in a stadium with almost no spectators ," said NU.

Vietnam Women's Team 0-2 Portugal

NU newspaper rated the Vietnamese team as an unpredictable team. The author of the article commented: " They were impressive but unstable in the preparation for the World Cup. This team only lost 1-2 to the German team but then lost 0-9 to the Spanish team " .

With an early elimination after two defeats to the US and Portugal, NU newspaper is skeptical about the ability of the Vietnamese team to stop the Dutch attack. Coach Andries Jonker and his students are determined to win big to compete with the top team, the US.

The Dutch coaching staff carefully studied the Vietnamese women's team.

" We saw opportunities that we could attack. The whole team was ready, " said striker Lieke Martens.

Coach Andries Jonker said: “Before the match against the Vietnamese women's team, we collected a lot of information about this team. They play very good defense. The Vietnamese women's team is a capable team. We have a lot of respect for Vietnam. Although not as thorough as preparing for the match against the US, we also prepared many scenarios for situations on the field to achieve the desired results.”

The match between Vietnam and the Netherlands will take place at 2:00 p.m. tomorrow, August 1 at Forsyth Barr Stadium, Dunedin (New Zealand).
