In the 1980s, Liu Dingquan, a fisherman living in Guanyinqiao Village, Gansu Province, China, went to the north bank of the Jialing River to catch fish. He saw a sparkling light under the river. After searching for a while, he found an object emitting light.
After cleaning it, he realized it was a “little turtle”. It was a square gold nugget with a turtle on top. Liu Dingquan took this thing home.

The story of Liu Dingquan finding gold in the river spread throughout the village. Many people also came to the riverbank to search for gold, causing the once quiet riverbank to become extremely noisy. Finally, the local government had to step in to disperse the group.
The administrators invited experts from the local Cultural Relics Bureau to verify the information. The archaeologist went to Liu Dingquan’s house and expressed his intention to examine what he had found. Liu Dingquan did not hide anything and quickly brought it out. Upon seeing the gold nugget, the experts exclaimed, “This is a rare treasure.”

The experts convinced Liu Dingquan that it was illegal to pick up a cultural relic and not hand it over. Liu Dingquan agreed to hand over the relic to the experts. They then awarded the fisherman a 350 yuan (nearly 1.2 million VND) reward and a certificate of merit for people who have contributed to the protection of cultural relics.
Based on the five characters "Thien Tuong Quan An Chuong" engraved at the bottom of the seal, experts believe that this cultural relic is a seal from the Western Han Dynasty. Antiques, especially the Western Han Dynasty gold seal, are very valuable on the antique market.
With such a high historical value, this golden turtle seal is estimated to be worth around 200 million NDT (about 660 billion VND).
Upon hearing this news, Liu Dingquan cried because he never expected to find such a valuable treasure but unfortunately could not sell it.
