Vietnam futsal team determined to win ticket to Asian Finals 2026

The Vietnamese futsal team has left for Kuwait for a short training session, completing the final preparations before the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship qualifiers.

After three weeks of training in Ho Chi Minh City, coach Diego Giustozzi has finalized the list of 16 players. Four players who had to leave the team at this stage include goalkeeper Nguyen Quoc Giau, Chau Thach Khanh Cuong, Ala Doan Minh Man and Tran Nhat Trung.

Tran Nhat Trung has been a prominent face in recent times, but cannot join the team in this year's tournament. Coach Diego Giustozzi also did not use goalkeeper Khanh Cuong when the goalkeeper who replaced Van Y at Thai Son Nam TP.HCM did not have convincing form.

The two goalkeepers of the Vietnamese futsal team chosen by the Argentine coach are Thanh Bao (Sai ​​Gon Titans) and Van Tu (Thai Son Bac). Van Tu is the number 1 goalkeeper of the team at present.

According to the plan, Coach Giustozzi and his team will train in Kuwait from September 9 to 14, including two international friendly matches with the Kuwait team on September 11 and 13. This is considered an important test, helping the coaching staff test their personnel as well as practice tactics.

The Argentine coach said that the two friendly matches with Kuwait will be a valuable opportunity for key players who have just returned from injury, such as Duc Hoa and Ngoc Linh, to regain their ball feeling, and at the same time help the whole team get ready for the official tournament.

Immediately after finishing training in West Asia, the Vietnamese futsal team will travel straight to China to participate in the 2026 Asian Futsal Championship qualifiers. According to the draw results, the team is in Group E, meeting Hong Kong (September 20), China (September 22) and Lebanon (September 24). The teams will compete in a round robin to determine the rankings. The eight group winners and seven best second-placed teams will qualify for the final round in Indonesia.

In the context of Vietnam futsal having just made a big step forward in the FIFA rankings (26th in the world , the highest in history), the belief in a successful campaign is further strengthened. This impressive achievement comes from a series of four unbeaten friendly matches in Ho Chi Minh City in April, creating favorable psychological momentum before entering the Asian qualifiers.

The training session in Kuwait and the three key matches in the upcoming qualifying round are considered important measures for the ambition to go further, while affirming the strength of Vietnamese futsal in the continental arena.
