Attending the ceremony were comrade Nguyen Van Hung, member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism , Chairman of the Vietnam Olympic Committee. Also attending were comrade Hoang Dao Cuong, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism ; representatives of the Vietnam Olympic Committee; leaders of the Vietnam Sports Department; Vietnam Football Federation, along with the coaching staff and players of the Vietnam U23 Team.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Nguyen Van Hung emphasized: “With determination and strong will, along with careful training and preparation, U23 Vietnam has won the 2025 Southeast Asian Championship. This victory creates a widespread effect of solidarity in society, while bringing confidence to youth football in the country.”
Minister Nguyen Van Hung also affirmed that this achievement is the starting point for the next journey and asked the whole team to continue to maintain the competitive spirit, improve the quality of professional work, and aim for two major goals at the end of the year: the 2026 U23 Asian Qualifiers and the 33rd SEA Games.
Sharing about the recent journey of the Vietnam U23 Team, Chairman of the Vietnam Football Federation Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan said that the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship is a great source of encouragement for young Vietnamese players. Especially in the context of Southeast Asian countries increasing the naturalization of players, Vietnamese football remains steadfast in its orientation of building a team with its own identity and reaping the rewards of investment in youth football.
On behalf of the Vietnam Football Federation, Mr. Tuan expressed his gratitude for the affection and attention of the Prime Minister, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; leaders of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism; and the Vietnam Sports Administration.
For his part, Coach Kim Sang Sik expressed his honor to be welcomed by Minister Nguyen Van Hung, and was moved to share his great joy when the team received a congratulatory letter from Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh right after the emotional final match with the Indonesian U23 team. The Korean coach affirmed that the careful preparation from the Vietnam Football Federation, including the important training trip in Vung Tau, was the foundation for the recent achievements. According to Coach Kim Sang Sik, this victory is a strong source of motivation for the whole team to aim for higher goals.
At the ceremony, on behalf of the Prime Minister, Minister Nguyen Van Hung presented the Prime Minister's Certificate of Merit to the Vietnam U23 Team and 24 outstanding individuals. At the same time, 5 members of the team also received Certificates of Merit from the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, recognizing their great efforts and contributions on the journey to successfully defend the regional championship.
To encourage the spirit of the Vietnam U23 Team, on behalf of the Vietnam Olympic Committee, Minister Nguyen Van Hung also awarded a bonus worth 500 million VND to the entire team.
