(CPV) - Although not playing friendly matches in November, the Vietnam National Team still rose 3 places, to 116th in the world rankings and 21st in Asia.

On November 28, the International Football Federation (FIFA) announced the rankings of national teams in the world. Accordingly, the Vietnam team ranked 116th, up 3 places on the world rankings and ranked 21st in Asia.

The reason for this "jump" of the "Golden Dragon Army" despite not having any friendly matches in November is due to the change in rankings of other countries. Specifically, Guinea-Bissau (down 4 places) and Zimbabwe (down 4 places) are teams with poor performance and have fallen behind the Vietnam Team in the FIFA rankings for November 2024.

The leading team in the region is Thailand, with 1228.24 points, ranked 97th. The "War Elephants" also dropped one place because they were deducted points after having 2 draws with the Lebanese and Laotian teams. Meanwhile, the Indonesian team advanced strongly thanks to a 2-0 victory over Saudi Arabia in the third qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup. The Indonesian team rose 5 places, now ranked 125th and ranked 3rd in Southeast Asia.

Ranked 4th in Southeast Asia is Malaysia. The team of coach Pau Marti Vicente (Spanish) received 3.13 points, moving up one place, from 133rd to 132nd in FIFA.

Positions from 5th to 11th in Southeast Asia are respectively the Philippines (149 FIFA, down 4 places), Singapore (161 FIFA, up one place), Myanmar (167 FIFA, down 2 places), Cambodia (180 FIFA, up one place), Brunei (184 FIFA, no increase, no decrease in ranking), Laos (186 FIFA, up one place) and Timor Leste (196 FIFA, no increase, no decrease).

In Asia, Japan (FIFA 15th) is still the highest ranked team. Following behind are Iran (18th) and South Korea (23rd).

Currently, the Vietnam National Team is still training in Korea to prepare for the 2024 ASEAN Cup, which will kick off on December 8. In the two friendly matches in Korea, the "Golden Dragons" both won 2-0 against Ulsan Citizen Club (Korean 3rd Division) and Daegu Club (Korean National Championship K-League 1). Before returning home, the team will have another match against Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors FC - the club that was associated with the name of Coach Kim Sang Sik both as a player (from 2009-2013) and as a coach (from 2021-2023)./.
