These days, Cuc Phuong National Park seems to be wearing a magical, brilliant coat when the butterfly season is at its most beautiful. In the middle of the primeval forest, millions of colorful butterflies flutter in the sun, creating a spectacular scene that makes visitors feel like they are lost in a fairy tale world .
From around late April to early June every year, the butterfly breeding season takes place. This is considered the most "special season" of the forest with more than 400 species of butterflies of all colors and sizes flying all over the trails and roads through the forest.
Butterflies here often appear in large numbers around 9-10am, especially after night rains. Areas such as Mac Lake, Nguoi Xua Cave or the road from Ranger Station No. 2 deep into the forest are where butterflies gather most densely.
The most common are white butterflies, but there are also yellow, orange, green and beautifully patterned butterflies, creating a vibrant color palette in the tropical forest space.
“If you want to hunt for beautiful photos, go on weekdays to avoid crowds. I usually bring some sponge cake, sweet bread – fragrant foods – to attract butterflies closer. And most importantly, move gently, wear soft shoes so as not to scare the butterflies away, ” said Duy Anh, a tourist who has visited Cuc Phuong many times.
“I have heard a lot about the butterfly season here, but I didn’t expect the scenery to be so beautiful. It feels like stepping into a fairy tale. Butterflies are flying everywhere, sunlight shines through the trees, everything is so gentle and peaceful, ” said Ngoc Minh from Nam Dinh .
The deeper you go into the forest, the easier it is to see many butterflies in various colors: yellow, white, orange, red, blue, brown...
Flocks of butterflies flying on the paths in the forest create a poetic scene.
Butterfly season in Cuc Phuong is also an opportunity for tourists to temporarily leave the noisy city, return to nature, and relax their souls in the middle of a wild world.
And perhaps the fragile butterflies have created a special attraction, making anyone who has visited once want to return to this forest.
Besides hunting butterflies, visitors to Cuc Phuong can also participate in many other exciting activities such as camping, trekking, cave exploration , or experiencing night tours to watch fireflies, observe rare animals such as langurs, civets, wild cats... These experiences contribute to nurturing love and awareness of environmental protection in each person.
