The incident happened when the child was traveling with his parents in Cuc Phuong (Ninh Binh province).
According to the report to Cuc Phuong Commune Police on July 23, Mr. Vu Viet Th. (born in 1990, Hanoi ), father of child A, said: On July 19, his family of 2, wife, and 2 children went on vacation in Cuc Phuong. The family booked a room at Cuc Phuong Mebi Hotel and was assigned room number 206, 2nd floor.
On the evening of July 19, after going sightseeing, Mr. Th.'s family returned to the hotel. Due to the impact of the storm, the hotel area lost power, and there was no backup power source, so Mr. Th.'s family used a light from their phone and opened the windows for ventilation.
At this time, A. followed his father to the window to look out and fell into the yard because the window had no bars and there was no protective railing outside. The family took the child to Nho Quan General Hospital for emergency treatment, then transferred him to Vinmec Hanoi Hospital for treatment.
The diagnosis results showed that A. suffered multiple injuries, including a closed fracture of the middle third of the right femur, pelvis, and head injuries. A. is currently out of danger and is being monitored after surgery.
After the incident, on July 20, Mr. Nguyen Manh Ha, owner of Cuc Phuong Mebi Hotel, brought Mr. Th.'s family's belongings to Hanoi to hand over and left without visiting his nephew, making the family very upset.
Records at the scene showed that the windows of the Cuc Phuong Mebi hotel rooms were designed with glass doors without bars, and the outside area of room 206 had no protective railings. The hotel owner refused to work with reporters.
Mr. Pham Manh Hung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cuc Phuong Commune, said that immediately after receiving information about the incident, local leaders called to visit, encourage the family and share the risk of the accident of child A..
The local government has established an interdisciplinary inspection team to inspect and verify the hotel and report to competent authorities to handle violations (if any).
Cuc Phuong Commune Police received the case and handled it according to regulations.
According to Ninh Binh Department of Tourism, Cuc Phuong Mebi Hotel has been assessed and recognized as a hotel that meets the minimum requirements for serving tourists. In 2023, the fire prevention, fire fighting and security conditions for the registered facility were inspected.
The Ninh Binh Province Department of Tourism said it would send a specialized department to inspect and re-evaluate all the licensed conditions of the hotel compared to reality. If violations are found, the department will request the hotel to stop operating.
