Prolonged heavy rain caused floodwaters on the Yen River to rise, sweeping away dozens of fish cages and rafts that had been swept into the An Trach dam.
Previously, on the afternoon of June 12, prolonged heavy rain due to the influence of storm No. 1 (international name Wutip) caused floodwaters on the Yen River to rise, sweeping away dozens of fish cages of Mr. Dang Ngoc Phi Long (residing in Dai Hiep commune, Dai Loc district, Quang Nam province).
The cages drifted to the foot of An Trach dam and crashed into the dam structure, causing severe damage to the entire cage. More than 50 tons of fish, mainly red tilapia ready for harvest, spilled into the river, causing damage of more than 4 billion VND.
According to the Da Nang City Military Command, at the scene there were about 40 cages stuck right at the foot of the dam, blocking nearly half of the dam surface, covering 6 water discharge compartments with a length of more than 35m.
This situation not only obstructs the flow but also threatens the structural safety of An Trach irrigation works.
Faced with the emergency, the City Military Command urgently organized forces to synchronously deploy measures to dismantle, salvage and relocate stuck cages and rafts, ensuring the flow of water, reducing pressure on the dam body and preventing incidents from arising.
