Enterprises are interested in proactively equipping and improving outdoor working conditions. At Quang Ninh Cement and Construction Joint Stock Company, where hundreds of workers regularly work outdoors and in hot areas , the Board of Directors has proactively implemented many solutions to minimize the effects of heat. Notably, the provision of heat-resistant clothing for workers working outdoors is a highlight. At the same time, the company's Union also proposed to support soft drinks and increase breaks to ensure the health of workers.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hung , a worker at Quang Ninh Cement and Construction Joint Stock Company, shared: "We are very happy to be provided with heat-resistant clothing by the Company. This is very practical because working under the hot, sunny weather is extremely tiring and can easily lead to heatstroke. The clothing has a cooling ability that helps reduce fatigue."
At Gieng Day Quang Ninh Construction Ceramics Joint Stock Company, workers often work in hot environments due to the heat emitted from brick and tile kilns. To improve working conditions and ensure the health of workers during the hot season, Mr. Doan Tien Dung, General Director of the Company said: Early in the morning, the Company prepares a pot of porridge for workers to eat to supplement energy when hungry, or workers who have not had breakfast can eat a bowl of porridge before work. In addition, the Company also arranges soft drinks such as lemon, iced sugar, black beans... to cool down workers. Industrial fans and misting systems are arranged at workers' work positions...
Mr. Doan Viet Cuong, a worker at Gieng Day Quang Ninh Construction Ceramics Joint Stock Company, shared: The working environment of a construction material manufacturing company is often very hot. The timely attention of the Company will help us restore our labor force to work.
Not only the construction industry, in industrial parks such as Viet Hung (Ha Long City), foreign-invested enterprises such as Weili Vietnam Textile and Garment Company Limited also focus on improving the working environment. Cooling systems and industrial fans are added, and workers are reminded to drink enough water, rest on time, and not work overtime when the temperature exceeds the safe threshold.
In the coal industry, measures to protect miners have been strengthened. In special working conditions, miners are heavily affected by the weather. Therefore, units of the Vietnam National Coal and Mineral Industries Group (TKV) in Quang Ninh such as Nui Beo Coal Joint Stock Company, Mao Khe Coal Company, Duong Huy Coal Company, Mong Duong Coal Company, Ha Lam Coal Joint Stock Company, Nui Beo Coal Joint Stock Company... have increased nutritional supplements, electrolyte drinks, various types of tea, vitamin C and improved ventilation and cooling systems in the mines.
Refreshing drinks such as salty mineral water, salty lemonade and yogurt are provided in the daily mid-shift meals for workers. At the same time, units in the Coal industry also provide wall fans, industrial fans, pedestal fans, ventilation fans, thermos bottles, coolers for storing ice and umbrellas for outdoor work positions. Mechanical equipment that regularly works in warehouses such as excavators and bulldozers are also inspected and have their air conditioning systems maintained to ensure the health of workers.
Mr. Nguyen Tien Du, Duong Huy Coal Company said: "In the summer, working in the furnace can reach nearly 40 degrees Celsius, which is very tiring and can easily cause low blood pressure. This year, the company has prepared vitamins, oral rehydration salt water and adjusted shifts, so workers feel much more secure. Meals also include green vegetables and cool water to improve health."
Not only that, the medical team is always on duty, ready to provide first aid when necessary. In some units, automatic misting and cooling systems are additionally invested to limit the heat in work locations with high temperatures .
Many units have implemented many activities to care for the lives and health of union members and workers. During the "Month of action on occupational safety and hygiene", thousands of gifts, masks, and drinking water were given to workers working in harsh environments.
Along with that, the monitoring of the working environment has also been strengthened. The Quang Ninh Center for Disease Control (CDC) has conducted monitoring at enterprises, checked water quality, measured environmental indicators such as temperature, humidity, light, noise, etc. to promptly recommend adjustments to ensure safety standards.
The close coordination between businesses, unions and authorities during this year's hot season shows a high sense of responsibility towards workers in Quang Ninh. Proactively improving working conditions, providing material support and health care not only helps workers feel secure in their work, but also contributes to building a humane corporate culture and sustainable development.
