Journalists must maintain a clear mind and a sharp pen.

On the evening of June 21st, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Journalists Association organized an art program to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam's Revolutionary Press Day and presented the 19th National Journalism Awards - 2024 with the theme "Steel in the Pen - Fire in the Heart". Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh attended and delivered a speech at the ceremony.

Also attending were Politburo member, Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party, Head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department Nguyen Trong Nghia; representatives of leaders from many central and local departments, ministries, and agencies; veteran journalists; and the authors and groups of authors who won the 19th National Journalism Award - 2024.

In his concluding remarks at the awards ceremony, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association Le Quoc Minh stated that out of hundreds of thousands of print, radio, television, online, and multimedia entries submitted from central and local press agencies and journalists' associations at all levels, nearly 2,000 high-quality works were selected for the 2024 National Journalism Awards. After two meticulous rounds of judging, 128 outstanding works were honored, including 13 A prizes, 27 B prizes, 49 C prizes, and 39 Encouragement prizes.

These include insightful political essays on Party principles in journalism, administrative reform, and the cultural industry; moving reports and narratives about war, aspirations for development, and heritage preservation; social investigations and critiques of inadequacies and violations; portraits of creative workers, examples of overcoming difficulties, and the spirit of compassion during natural disasters and floods...

At the awards ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged and highly appreciated the contributions of press agencies, veteran journalists, and many generations of journalists to the revolutionary cause, contributing to the great achievements of the Party, the State, and the people.

The Prime Minister stated that, over the past 100 years, the revolutionary press of Vietnam has continuously developed, affirming its role as a sharp ideological weapon of the Party, effectively serving the cause of the struggle for national independence, building and defending the Fatherland...

Against the backdrop of rapidly developing technology and fierce competition in the media industry, journalism needs to innovate strongly, grasp technological trends, develop multimedia journalism, and leverage the power of the Internet and social media to build a healthy, humane media ecosystem that serves the people. Each media organization and each journalist needs to uphold its glorious 100-year tradition, continue to be a truthful and objective voice, reflecting the multifaceted flow of life; be a solid bridge between the Party, the State, and the people; encourage innovation, spread positive values, and contribute to building a progressive and humane society...

The Prime Minister expressed his confidence that the revolutionary press of Vietnam will continue to excellently fulfill its noble mission, making a worthy contribution to the cause of building and defending the socialist Fatherland of Vietnam, steadily integrating and developing, and standing shoulder to shoulder with the great powers of the world, as President Ho Chi Minh always wished. Journalists must maintain a clear mind, a sharp pen, and an unwavering spirit – "steel in the pen, fire in the heart" – continuing to dedicate themselves to the development of the country and the happiness of the people.
