Tien Giang University: Promoting activities to train ethics and lifestyle for students

(ABO) Over the years, Tien Giang University has effectively implemented moral and lifestyle education, organized many movements, and contributed to training skills for students. Thereby, creating a positive learning and living environment, helping students develop comprehensively in terms of knowledge, personality, and sense of responsibility to the community.

Identifying moral and lifestyleeducation as a key task, the school has closely coordinated with functional units, the Youth Union, and the Student Association to implement many synchronous solutions, suitable to the characteristics of the current student situation. The activities are organized in depth, diverse in content and form, gradually raising awareness, training, learning and dedication among students.

EFFECTIVE ORGANIZATION OF COMPETITION MOVEMENTS

In recent times, the school has paid attention to and widely implemented the “5 Good Students” movement, associated with studying and following Ho Chi Minh’s ideology, morality and style. On that basis, many practical models and activities have been born such as: Organizing seminars, exchanging with outstanding students, introducing students to participate in training courses for Party members, supporting connections with businesses for internships and finding jobs after graduation, etc.

From the movement, many students with good training have been recognized and promoted to play a core role in the activities of the Youth Union - Association movement, creating a positive effect throughout the school. In the 2022 - 2023 school year, many "5 Good Students" have been introduced to the Party, becoming the nucleus of student movements.

At the same time, programs such as “Student Aspiration”, “Student Mirror”, “Friendship Fund” to support students in difficult circumstances… also contribute to spreading good values, building a civilized and humane school environment.

FOCUS ON SKILL TRAINING

Along with propaganda and ideological education, Tien Giang University also focuses on organizing many cultural - artistic, physical education - sports playgrounds for students to practice physical fitness and improve soft skills. Activities such as: Healthy Youth Festival, Student Cross-country Race, Golden Swallow Competition, Student Art Performance... are organized periodically, creating a joyful atmosphere, connecting students inside and outside the classroom.

Students participate in the National Anthem - Union Song - Association Song Contest.

Many practical educational volunteer programs have also been launched by the Youth Union and Student Association of the school such as: Voluntary blood donation, Volunteer Saturday, Green Sunday, gratitude, visiting students in difficult circumstances... Thereby, contributing to helping students form a compassionate lifestyle, responsible to the community.

In addition, the school regularly coordinates with units and businesses to organize seminars on career skills, job orientation, startups, etc. to help students equip themselves with the necessary knowledge to confidently integrate after graduation.

Students participate in cleaning up in response to Green Sunday.

Secretary of the Youth Union of Tien Giang University Nguyen Minh Quan said that, besides the achieved results, the work of educating ethics, lifestyle and training skills for students still faces certain difficulties.

The arrangement of Youth Union cadres is mainly students, so they have limited experience; the conditions for organizing activities at the two campuses of the school are not uniform. Some students are not really proactive in participating in the movement, still have a passive mentality, and have not fully promoted the role of learners in the university environment.

However, with the leadership of the Party Committee, the Board of Directors of the school and the support of organizations, moral education and lifestyle activities for students at Tien Giang University are having positive changes. This is an important foundation for students to not only be good at their majors, but also have the right mindset, good personality, contributing to building a civilized and modern society.
