- In a vibrant and enthusiastic atmosphere, the 13th "Red Journey" program in Lang Son, held from June 18-20, concluded. A total of 1,352 units of blood were collected. This result demonstrates the compassionate spirit of the people of Lang Son.
Starting on June 18th, the 13th "Red Journey" program this year features a variety of rich and engaging activities. The program kicked off with a solemn ceremony of offering incense and flowers and reporting achievements at the Ho Chi Minh Memorial Park and the statue of Comrade Hoang Van Thu; followed by a parade promoting voluntary blood donation along the main streets of Lang Son city. This was followed by the opening ceremony of the "Red Journey" program and the "Drop of Red in Lang Son" blood donation festival in 2025, along with cultural and artistic exchanges. The series of activities attracted a large number of officials, civil servants, employees from various agencies and units, and the people of the area.
At the opening ceremony of the "Red Drop of Lang Son 2025" blood donation festival on June 19th, Mr. Duong Xuan Huyen, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee and Head of the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, emphasized: "Blood is a priceless gift that brings life to patients. The 12th Red Journey in Lang Son has affirmed the solidarity and humanity of the community. With 10,600 units of blood received in 2024 and nearly 3,200 units in the first six months of 2025, Lang Son continues to be a shining example in the blood donation movement nationwide."
On this occasion, the Provincial Red Cross Society, the permanent agency, mobilized more than 60 volunteers and organized thorough training on the procedures for receiving and caring for blood donors. Activities such as parades, leaflet distribution, and cultural performances spread the message "Connecting the Vietnamese Bloodline." Immediately after the opening ceremony, leaders of the units visited and encouraged blood donors and presented gifts to 20 patients with thalassemia at Lang Son Provincial General Hospital.
Ms. Nong Bich Thuan, Chairwoman of the Provincial Red Cross Society and Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation, stated: This year, the "Red Journey" program is being organized amidst organizational restructuring. Therefore, many provinces and cities nationwide are experiencing delays in organizing blood donation drives, leading to a significant shortage of blood during this summer. Thus, organizing the "Red Journey" program in Lang Son at this time is extremely meaningful. To ensure the program's success, effectiveness, and widespread impact, we have proactively coordinated with relevant agencies and units, especially those involved in promoting and encouraging blood donation. We have also made thorough preparations regarding other conditions such as facilities, equipment, and related tasks, as well as the program's content.
This year, due to unforeseen circumstances, Lang Son city and Cao Loc district were unable to jointly organize the 13th "Red Journey" program as planned. However, thanks to the close coordination between agencies, units from the provincial to the grassroots level, and relevant individuals, the program ran smoothly and achieved impressive results.
Specifically, the program attracted a large number of officials, civil servants, employees, and officers and soldiers in the armed forces, along with the general public, to register for voluntary blood donation, resulting in the collection of 1,352 units of blood. This blood was transferred to the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion for separation and extraction into blood products, which were then transferred to medical facilities to serve in emergency care and treatment of patients.
Mr. Trieu Van Trong, Chairman of the Lang Son City Living Blood Bank Club, said: "I have always actively supported the 'Red Journey' program. As the chairman of the club, I regularly promote and encourage members to donate blood when their health permits. Participating in this year's program, we lined up from early morning on June 19th to donate our blood, contributing to the success of the voluntary blood donation event."
It can be said that the 13th "Red Journey" in Lang Son in 2025 has continued the success of the "Red Journey" program in previous years. The program was organized systematically with the active participation of the community. With the results achieved, it is believed that in the future, the "Red Journey" program in Lang Son in particular and throughout the country in general will continue to create a positive impact, contributing to raising awareness and providing a valuable source of blood for the health sector, spreading noble deeds in the community.
