Comrades: Vu Thi Hien Hanh - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee (2nd, from right) and Nguyen Dinh Chien - Deputy Director of the Provincial Department of Industry and Trade (far left) visited OCOP products of Nghia Lo town. |
Reporter : Sir, up to now, how many OCOP products does the province have? What changes have these products brought to the province's economy ?
Comrade Nguyen Dinh Chien : Up to now, the whole province has 273 certified OCOP products. Of these, 25 products have achieved 4 stars and 248 products have achieved 3 stars. OCOP products belong to the following product groups: food industry 205 products; handicraft and decoration industry 15 products; herbal industry 21 products; beverage industry 14 products; rural tourism and sales services industry 17 products; ornamental plant industry 1 product.
It can be affirmed that the OCOP Program has truly breathed new life into the rural economy of Yen Bai province.
Looking back a few years ago, agricultural products were mainly produced on a small scale, lacking connectivity, with uneven quality and difficulty accessing large markets.
Since the implementation of OCOP, we have witnessed a strong transformation. Agricultural products are no longer simply "raw goods" but have been upgraded to branded products, invested in design, packaging, and especially quality is more strictly controlled. This helps products have higher value, easier to participate in the supply chain and modern distribution system, and people's income has also improved significantly.
PV : In order for OCOP products to truly reach and compete in the market, improving quality is a key factor. Could you tell us what solutions the provincial Department of Industry and Trade has to achieve this goal?
Comrade Nguyen Dinh Chien: Improving product quality is always our top priority. The Department of Industry and Trade is currently focusing on implementing a number of key solutions such as promoting training and transferring science and technology to OCOP entities on safe production processes, food hygiene and safety, advanced preservation and processing technology. The goal is to help entities master the techniques to create products of stable quality, meeting safety standards.
In particular, we strengthen support for brand building and development. A good product needs a strong brand. The Department supports entities from logo design, packaging to trademark registration and traceability. These are important factors for consumers to trust and identify the product.
At the same time, the Department focuses on connecting and promoting trade, regularly organizing and facilitating entities to participate in fairs and exhibitions inside and outside the province to connect with major distribution channels such as supermarkets and e-commerce platforms. More importantly, we pay special attention to quality control and product standardization. OCOP products must comply with regulations on quality and food safety. We encourage and support entities to register for quality certifications such as VietGAP, GlobalGAP, HACCP, ISO... This is the clearest evidence of the commitment to product quality.
PV: Dear comrade, what are the specific directions and plans of the Department of Industry and Trade in the coming time to continue improving the quality of OCOP products?
Comrade Nguyen Dinh Chien : To overcome difficulties and achieve the goal, in the coming time, the Department of Industry and Trade will continue to promote the above solutions and focus on some new directions. First of all, strengthen the value chain linkage, encourage large enterprises and cooperatives to link with small-scale producers to form a synchronous production chain, from raw materials to processing and consumption.
This helps to better control quality, optimize costs and increase competitiveness. Next, we will focus on developing unique products that have strengths of each locality.
Yen Bai has many rich specialties. The Department will orient the development of potential products with high economic value and strong regional identity such as: Suoi Giang Shan Tuyet tea, Van Yen cinnamon, Mu Cang Chai forest honey, Thac Ba lake fish...
In addition, the Department will increase the application of information technology and digital transformation in the management and promotion of OCOP products. This includes building digital platforms to promote and introduce products, making it easier for consumers to access and shop. At the same time, the Department will continue to mobilize and diversify investment resources, not only from the state budget but also encourage businesses, organizations and individuals to participate in investing in the production and development of OCOP products.
With these orientations, we believe that Yen Bai OCOP products will increasingly improve quality, reach out and affirm their position in the market, contributing more positively to the socio-economic development of the province.
PV: Thank you very much, comrade!
