On the sidelines of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's participation in the United Nations Ocean Conference and working in France, on June 10, 2025, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long had a working session with the Agency for Nuclear Safety and Radiological Protection (ASNR) and the French Agency for Atomic Energy and Alternative Energies (CEA) at the ASNR headquarters in Paris.
Also attending the meeting were leaders of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) and the National Industry and Energy Group (PVN); on the French side were Mr. Luc Lachaume, ANSR Board of Members and Mr. Philippe Chapelot, CEA International Relations Manager.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long affirmed that the Ministry of Industry and Trade always attaches importance to and wishes to provide a comprehensive strategic partnership with France that is increasingly in-depth, substantive and effective. In particular, cooperation in the field of peaceful nuclear energy is one of the potential directions that need to be strongly promoted. The two sides informed and exchanged views, visions and the need for cooperation to support Vietnam in developing its nuclear capacity development plan.
For his part, Mr. Luc Lachaume said that ASNR is the new most rational Agency between the Nuclear Safety Authority (ASN) and the Institute for Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety (IRSN) with about 2,000 employees throughout France. This is the Agency that carries out the tasks of supervision, research, expert assessment, training and communication in the fields of nuclear safety and radiation protection.
Meanwhile, Mr. Philippe Chapelot said that CEA was founded in 1945. This is a public research organization under the French government , with its headquarters located in Paris. CEA's main role is research and development in the field of nuclear energy, including reactor technology, nuclear fuel, as well as nuclear waste treatment and recycling.

In addition, CEA promotes research on alternative energy sources such as solar energy, wind energy, fuel cells and other clean energy technologies. In addition, the facility remains on safety and environmental protection issues related to nuclear power.
During the discussion, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long highly appreciated the information shared by ASNR and CEA, including valuable experience in operating and managing activities, and building policies to monitor and deploy in the field of nuclear power.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade hopes that ASNR and CEA, based on previous and current cooperation with Vietnam, will continue to expand comprehensive cooperation from human resource training to technology transfer, contributing to helping Vietnam achieve its goals in the field of nuclear capacity.
