Workshop on good aquaculture practices VietGAP

(CT) - On October 10, at Ngoc To commune, Can Tho city, the Department of Fisheries and Fisheries Surveillance of Can Tho city (Department of Agriculture and Environment of Can Tho city) organized a field workshop on practicing good aquaculture standards VietGAP in 2025.

Delegates visited a shrimp farming model following VietGAP process of a household.

At the workshop, Mr. Do Van Thua, Deputy Head of the Department of Fisheries and Fisheries Control of Can Tho City, informed about good aquaculture practices in Vietnam, regulations on legal procedures and documents, infrastructure in aquaculture; regulations on water sources, drugs, chemicals...; requirements on breeds, care regimes, how to use antibiotics to treat epidemics; regulations on conditions and regimes for workers participating in aquaculture...

When applying VietGAP, aquaculture farmers will reduce costs on antibiotics and feed. Implementing VietGAP also helps farmers control and analyze food safety hazards, diseases, the environment and food preservation as well as adjust the amount of feed for aquaculture appropriately, helping aquaculture grow well...

Aquaculture households also discussed with the professional sector about regulations to participate in implementing the VietGAP farming process; market and profit of VietGAP farmed aquatic products; support from the professional sector...
