
At night, the temperature in the mountainous areas of Cao Bang and Lang Son provinces drops to only about 10 degrees Celsius, but the construction pace at the site is very busy. The headlights are bright, the sound of the machine is endless. At the construction site at Km11 (Van Lang commune, Lang Son province), the contractor mobilized asphalt concrete trucks, deployed a modern paving line with many rolling equipment, and proceeded to lay asphalt concrete on the road surface with a length of about 150 m. This is also the first segment to carry out asphalt paving, marking an important milestone in the construction process, affirming the commitment to the technical route clearance progress this December. The hot asphalt paving process is carried out with strict technical requirements. The rolling layers are carried out many times to ensure the road surface achieves flatness and compaction according to current standards and regulations. After the first 150 meters of asphalt concrete are laid, the contractor and supervising consultant will evaluate the technical parameters and proceed to mass paving the entire route.
Mr. Than The An, A2Z Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company said: Asphalt pavement is an important technical item, the final step in the construction process, forming the road surface. To ensure quality, we regularly check input materials, use completely new machinery and equipment, and the asphalt transport distance is under 10 km. Regarding temperature, maintain the asphalt concrete temperature from 145 - 165 degrees Celsius, the rolling temperature from 120 - 140 degrees Celsius. In the following days, the construction unit together with the supervision consultant and the project enterprise focused resources on continuous paving day and night according to the set schedule and divided into many teams. Currently, there are 6 asphalt concrete stations built along the route.

Stretching across Lang Son and Cao Bang, phase 1 of the project is more than 93 km long, including 2 tunnels through mountains and 64 overpasses across the Ky Cung and Bang Giang rivers, along with countless streams and provincial roads. With complex geological structure, rugged terrain, and prolonged natural disasters and floods, Dong Dang - Tra Linh has become a traffic project with the most difficult construction conditions.
Despite the challenges of terrain and natural disasters, the project aims to open about 65 - 70 km of the route on the segments before December 19, with some remaining locations of large bridges over rivers, landslide slopes and bridges with caster caves, striving to open the entire route on asphalt concrete and crushed stone before Tet, except for some arising bridge items.
Currently, the project enterprise is directing contractors to actively mobilize additional machinery, equipment, and personnel to simultaneously deploy construction at the critical section to strive to open the route before December 19. The construction volume after the flood period has been accelerated to compensate for the progress. The entire construction site mobilized more than 3,000 workers and more than 1,400 machines and equipment, deployed simultaneously at many construction points. Up to now, the output value has reached 5,458/6,828 billion VND, equivalent to more than 80% of the plan to open the route in phase 1.
Sharing at the construction site, Mr. Nguyen Ba Khuong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of 568 Construction Investment Group (investor and contractor) said: The construction intensity on the entire route is being maintained at a very high level. Construction teams work 22/24 hours a day, taking advantage of every time frame to make up for progress after the flood. Many operators have lunch right in the cabin to be on time for the new shift, showing their determination to "stick to the construction site" to ensure progress as committed. Currently, the entire construction area of 568 Group, including 55 km (km38 to km93), has been cleared. Of which, many sections of the route are qualified for asphalt concrete paving.
In addition to progress, contractors still strictly control the quality of the project and labor safety conditions. In some locations where the embankment is up to 20 m high, although the construction has reached the top of K98 and is qualified to lay the base layer or deploy the route on the asphalt concrete layer, the general contractor still decided to continue monitoring the settlement of the roadbed. Only when the parameters are stable will the finishing layers of the road surface be deployed, to ensure the long-term sustainability of the highway.

With the spirit of working overtime and day and night at all construction sites, the province's strategic traffic route is becoming more and more evident. This result is a testament to the effective cooperation and companionship in the first PPP project in the country implemented under the Investment Law under the new public-private partnership model.
Mr. Hoang Duc Tho, Director of the Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board, shared: The site clearance work currently being implemented in Cao Bang province has been basically completed. The province has mobilized the entire political system to participate, focusing maximum resources to accompany and support investors and project enterprises. At the same time, closely coordinate with Lang Son province to resolve some existing site clearance problems in the province in the spirit of "no hesitation, no delay", so that contractors can feel secure in construction and speed up output. Investors and project enterprises are also determined to work overtime, including at night. The goal of opening the route on December 19, 2025 can be completed in accordance with the direction of the Prime Minister.
The project is in the "sprint" phase, with less than 20 days left until the milestone of technical route opening in phase 1. Contractors and construction units are mobilizing maximum human and material resources, working overtime, increasing productivity and output every day, bringing the project to the finish line on time with honor and responsibility to the Party, State and people.
The sound of machinery rumbling day and night among the mountains is opening up the belief in a modern, safe highway, promoting regional connectivity and socio-economic development, contributing to the whole country achieving the goal of 3,000 km of highway, stretching from Cao Bang to Ca Mau, welcoming the 14th National Party Congress.
