Welcoming New Year's Eve at Long Thanh airport construction site

At the moment of transition between the old year and the new year, people far from home and family gather together to worship the New Year, wishing each other peace in the new year. That helps everyone to ease their longing for their loved ones, and feel warmer in the middle of the immense construction site.

Recorded at component project 2 - air traffic control works of Long Thanh airport project, on the 30th of Tet, at the construction site, engineers and workers actively worked on each item.

Despite the hot weather, engineers and workers still work enthusiastically, creating a beautiful picture during Tet holidays at the construction site.

In particular, on New Year's Eve, at the moment of transition between the old year and the new year, engineers, workers, and officers in the Long Thanh Project Management Board together set up a New Year's Eve offering tray to pray for a peaceful new year and a smooth construction site. The New Year's Eve offering tray in the middle of the large construction site is full of fruits, sticky rice, chicken, cakes, etc.

Lots of food and drinks are prepared for engineers and workers on the construction site to chat at the beginning of spring.

Flowers and ornamental plants are also decorated at the construction site since the days leading up to Tet.

Mr. Hoang Le Huy, Long Thanh Project Management Board (component project 2) shared that this is the first year he has to celebrate Tet away from his family, so he has mixed feelings. However, due to work responsibilities, he and his colleagues temporarily put aside their personal joy to stay at the construction site.

According to Mr. Huy, the engineers and workers worked very hard, only resting on the afternoon of the 30th to celebrate Tet and continuing to work on the first day of Tet to meet the schedule.

“The Southern Tet holiday is hot and sunny, but everyone is happy and comfortable, creating a bustling atmosphere at the construction site when spring comes. I hope everyone will have a happy, prosperous and healthy new year so that they can work with peace of mind and stick with the construction site,” said Mr. Huy.

Mr. Nguyen Manh Hai (contractor of General Company 36, the construction unit in the air traffic control area) shared that previously, the projects he participated in were mainly in the northern provinces. This was the first construction site in the south that he participated in and also the first time he celebrated Tet away from home.

“In previous years, I usually went home on the 26th of Tet to celebrate Tet with my family, but this year I stayed to work during Tet. The project was large and the job responsibilities were high, so we tried to take advantage of the dry season weather to speed up the work progress,” said Mr. Hai.

Mr. Hai added that because the construction site is decorated for Tet everywhere, everyone feels warmer and less homesick.

Similarly, at the Long Thanh airport component 3 project, items such as the passenger terminal, runway, taxiway, and connecting traffic routes also continued to be constructed throughout Tet with about 1,000 workers staying at the construction site.

On New Year's Eve, many contractors have implemented spring and Tet celebration activities for engineers and workers.

Mr. Nguyen Chau, commander of Zone 6 construction site (Vinaconex - construction of passenger terminal) said that this Tet, his brothers will take turns on duty at the construction site to continue to speed up the work.

“Because the dry season lasts about 6 months, we all take advantage of it. Each person divides their time between celebrating Tet and working on the construction site, including some who volunteer to stay and work during Tet. The company guarantees salary benefits according to Tet regulations for all of us, so everyone is happy because of the good income,” said Mr. Chau.

According to the reporter's records, the construction units' camp areas are decorated with flowers and landscapes.

With the race to progress through Tet holiday, speeding up the items, the finishing day of Long Thanh airport is not far away. When put into operation, Long Thanh super airport will open up a new economic development space for Dong Nai in particular as well as the Southeast region and the whole country in general.
