Accelerating production '3 shifts, 4 shifts'

At nearly 12 noon at the production workshop of Electrical Construction and Trading Mechanical Joint Stock Company 4 (Me Linh, Hanoi ), all workers were still working enthusiastically and steel columns were gradually taking shape.

"The progress is very urgent, so we have to mobilize staff to work in 3 shifts and 4 shifts," said Mr. Vu Van Nam, Director of Electrical Construction and Trading Mechanical Joint Stock Company 4.

He said the company participated in 4 bidding packages with a total of 182 steel column foundation positions and the extension of the 500kV Vinh Yen station, with a volume of 8,500 tons of steel columns.

To date, Package 4 and Package 5 have completed the entire delivery of steel columns. Package 2 has completed 19/23 steel column positions, and Package 9 has completed 18/22 positions. It is expected that the steel columns of Package 2 and Package 9 will be completed on June 5.

According to Mr. Nam, with domestically produced steel columns, we can be proactive. As for steel tubular columns, the new type applied in the project, require higher technology and raw materials still depend on imports, so production encounters some difficulties.

“However, we will deliver the last shipments on June 24, 20-25 days ahead of schedule,” Mr. Nam affirmed.

At the factory of Viet Vuong Joint Stock Company ( Hung Yen ), the production atmosphere these days is equally "hot". All workers are working "3 shifts, 4 shifts" 24/7 to produce columns with an average volume of 100 tons/day.

Winning the bid to supply 128 column foundation positions, totaling 14,500 tons for the Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV Transmission Line Project, Mr. Nguyen Hong Thang, Deputy General Director of Viet Vuong Joint Stock Company (Hung Yen) said that of these, 52 positions are V-shaped steel columns, the rest are steel pipe columns.

“Currently, the output is 100 tons/day. However, we are trying to increase the output further to complete the order schedule, especially when the rainy season is approaching,” Mr. Thang said, adding that the factory is expected to complete all the columns before June 20.

Overcoming the sun and rain to speed up construction

According to Mr. Do Quang Khai - Deputy Director of Power Project Management Board 1 and Director of the Executive Board of the Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV Transmission Line Project, up to now, 236 pole positions have completed concrete foundation construction, 156 positions are under construction and it is expected that all foundation construction will be completed by early June.

For the pole erection work, contractors are working in parallel.

Along the entire route, 25 locations have completed pole erection, 36 locations are under construction. The Management Board is also directing contractors to transport poles to the foundation for erection at other locations.

Mr. Khai also said that all 468 column foundation locations have been handed over to the Management Board and contractors by the authorities of Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Phu Tho, and Vinh Phuc provinces.

Similarly, regarding the corridor, Lao Cai, Phu Tho and Vinh Phuc provinces have completed the inventory and approved the compensation plan, and are ready to pay people to hand over the site to the contractor for pulling and laying wires.

In Yen Bai province alone, 86/90 locations have been counted so far. It is expected that compensation and payment to people will be completed by the end of May to the beginning of June, ensuring the progress of handing over the land for wire pulling.

“However, this is the beginning of the rainy season, the roads are slippery, and the transportation of materials and foundation construction face many obstacles,” said Mr. Khai.

Currently, the progress is very urgent, so when the rain stops, the contractor must organize pumping, dredging mud, and bringing materials to the construction site immediately. "We also have to use special vehicles to transport concrete and steel to the foundation column location," he said.

However, safety is still a top priority, especially ensuring safety during the rainy season.

Mr. Khai shared that the mobilization of human resources at the construction site is carried out according to the 4 on-site principle, combined with the contractor's professional force. Currently, all contractors at the construction site use core forces, combined with local workers to build this project.

Besides, the construction of columns depends on the site clearance work on the route, it cannot be constructed sequentially from 1 to 10 but according to each location with site clearance first.

"The Management Board has identified the progress critical lines, and directed the column manufacturing contractor to prioritize the production of those types of columns for which column positions can be completed first. The construction site can be ready to install columns immediately after completing the foundation construction, speeding up the project's progress," Mr. Do Quang Khai shared.

The 500kV Lao Cai - Vinh Yen line is a national key project approved by the Prime Minister in principle for investment, with Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) assigned as the investor and Power Project Management Board 1 as the investor representative.

This is a 500kV double-circuit line project with a total length of 229.5km, with a total of 468 pole foundation locations. The total investment of the project is more than 7,410 billion VND. The project passes through the provinces of Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Phu Tho and Vinh Phuc. The starting point is the 500kV Lao Cai station, the end point is the 500kV Vinh Yen station.

At the groundbreaking ceremony on March 16, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested that the project be completed no later than August 31 this year.

Prime Minister: Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV transmission line to be completed by August 31st at the latest On the morning of March 16th, attending the groundbreaking ceremony and launching the emulation movement to build the Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV transmission line project, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested that it be completed by August 31st this year at the latest.
