According to the legend at Nha Xa communal house, after defeating the Yuan-Mongol invaders for the third time, General Tran Khanh Du returned to Nha Xa village to practice asceticism and passed on the profession of growing mulberry, raising silkworms, reeling silk, and weaving silk to the people of Nha Xa village.

   

Nha Xa silk weaving village today still preserves the craft as the soul of the village, as the song "Nha Xa silk, Lanh river fish" has been passed down for generations.

Over time, Nha Xa silk weaving also spread to neighboring areas of Ha Nam province such as Lanh Tri, Chuyen Ngoai, Hoa Mac, Dong Van...

A weaving and dyeing factory owner in Nha Xa said that over time, silk frames have gradually been replaced by industrial weaving machines.

Traditional weaving looms are kept for display, preserving the village's traditions and demonstrating traditional weaving for tourists.

However, the steps of making silk, spinning silk, dyeing… are still done by traditional manual methods.

The process of weaving Nha Xa silk in the past went through the steps of planting mulberry, raising silkworms, reeling silk, and weaving silk. Nowadays, the area of planting mulberry and raising silkworms in Nha Xa has almost been reduced, Nha Xa people have imported high-quality silk from many places to serve production, preserving the traditional profession.

Nha Xa silk today has more patterns woven directly according to the original code with many beautiful designs. However, the traditional technology of dyeing and drying silk is still maintained, creating beautiful silk with many colors.
