Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Kingdom of Cambodia Nguyen Huy Tang and staff of the Embassy received and worked with the delegation.
Mr. Oknha Leng Rithy, Chairman of the Vietnam-Cambodia Business Association, Head of the Vietnam Rubber Group Office in Cambodia, also attended the meeting.
Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Le Van Hieu highly appreciated the development of Cambodia and the contributions of the Vietnamese Ambassador to Cambodia. He introduced to the Ambassador the outstanding results in the socio-economic development of Hai Duong, especially in attracting foreign direct investment (FDI), export, building new rural areas and developing infrastructure, especially transportation. He sought information on economic , trade and especially tourism activities of Cambodia and hoped that Ambassador Nguyen Huy Tang would create conditions and act as a bridge for Hai Duong to cooperate with partners and businesses in Cambodia.
Ambassador Nguyen Huy Tang expressed his pleasure to welcome the delegation from Hai Duong province. The Ambassador informed the delegation about the situation in Cambodia after the election and since the new government came into operation. Currently, the Cambodian Government prioritizes job creation for the people, sets the goal of ensuring economic growth of 7% per year, aiming to eliminate poverty, improve national governance capacity and sustainable development to withstand fluctuations. Cambodia sets priorities for infrastructure, human resources and technology development.
Ambassador Nguyen Huy Tang promised to pay attention and coordinate to implement Hai Duong's proposals. The Ambassador said this is a good time for businesses to invest in Cambodia.
Currently, economic and trade relations between Vietnam and Cambodia focus on fields and industries such as rubber, telecommunications, agricultural products, etc. The scale of two-way trade is 8.57 billion USD/year (2023). Vietnam invests the most in Cambodia among Southeast Asian countries, about 3 billion USD, and is highly effective.
Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Le Van Hieu transferred 100,000,000 VND from Hai Duong to the fund to repair degraded schools for children of Vietnamese origin in Cambodia; and presented souvenirs to the ambassador and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia.
The working trip of Hai Duong delegation led by comrade Le Van Hieu, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council, Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation to Laos and Cambodia was a great success.
The trip contributes to consolidating and developing the traditional friendship and multi-faceted cooperation between Hai Duong province and Vientiane province, implementing the Party and State's policies and guidelines on developing the traditional friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos; developing good neighborliness, traditional friendship and comprehensive cooperation with Cambodia.
The delegation conducted field surveys and learned experiences in tourism development and people-to-people diplomacy in the Lao People's Democratic Republic and the Kingdom of Cambodia.
